Been a posting on the Rugby forums here and there, I am new to this part of the forum. I have been a gymmer for a long time and since the lockdowns got really into home workouts. I have followed this U.S. Marine called Iron Wolf who posts some really intense high rep miliary calisthenics workouts. I realise some people who are purely into bodybuilding and powerlifting may kind of dismiss this training as it isn't about gaining size, he does have a huge following and he is not a clickbaitter, he just post some really challenging workouts.

I’ve seen him. He has skulls on his kettlebells.

I did something not too far away from this a few years back. Full of bodyweight exercises from different positions and poses.

What I liked about it: Variety of muscles used so individual muscle fatigue was not such an issue.

What I didn't like about it: It fucked my shoulder up completely and it still bothers me now.

Moral: be careful of any of the more "out there" exercises that force you into uncomfortable positions.

@Catogrande Rule of thumb is work to your level. I would rate this guy over some of the high price studios like F45 and apps out there. If it is good enough for a serving Marine and other Miliary personnel it is obviously a quality way to train. Anyway I love it and have got a lot out of it.

Serving in the Marine Corps, physical fitness is the corner stone of success for me. Training for me is both physical and mental as it has been there for me in the toughest times of my life. I started calisthenics during my first deployment to Afghanistan in 2009. Our patrol base was in a very...

You're right there. In retrospect I needed to take my age and degree of suppleness into account a lot more than I did. In particular the former. Having said that, some of the stuff I was doing was, looking back, too opposed to the normal motor movements. Certainly for me anyway!

Um, I think the Marines might be a little tougher and more used to daily workouts than some of the rest of us. And yes I have met quite a few of them but I have not trained with them.

@nostrildamus It is a fun program some may like it some may not. No one is trying to be a Marine, I am sure they are trained to kill people in a multitude of ways, using a type of training which is proven and used by people who know their stuff is something I consider a reliable source. Probably won't appeal to most people, respect to them, if however you do aspire to having a better than descent level of fitness, this is an awesome way to train.
