All Blacks 2023

@Crucial you can’t see that it’s spin and giving the appearance that they are “doing more”? You would expect that coaches have more contact during a RWC year, which has happened previously without the tagline or articles. And I’m all for that, but given all the furore over the last few months you know the PR was more important than the substance of any ‘summit’.

im with @ACT-Crusader here...." to get some alignment for RWC year on playing to current ref trends and being more effective" definitely sounds like what they should be doing....like all the time...every day

Definitely not 'all the time...every day'. That leads to group think and way too much similarity.
Of course the coaches do get together an discuss trends but this is being painted as a little bit more than that. Getting forwards to use the same techniques to counter lineout drive mauls means that they get more practice and are ready when they hit the ABs.
I get what @ACT-Crusader is saying. I just think he is being way too cynical. There may be an assumption that this stuff is done anyway but I don't have an issue with it being released to the press. All Press Releases are effectively spin but some also contain some information that is interesting and highlight something good that is going on. -

@Kiwiwomble guess alot will depend on what Fozzie sees as his best way to win the rwc...rookie debutant or safe experience.
Well you know - Foster with his track record of wild out of the blue, risk taking selections and all...
-
@Windows97 who knows, previous decisions may have been made with the intention of keeping his job, now that's gone he may throw caution in the wind and take a punt on someone...?

Sevu Reece gooooooooooooooonnnnneeeeeeeee.
Not going to play again this year.
Stevenson or Telea? Or both since Jordan is still out.
Stevenson is doing his chances no harm at the moment. He can play wing and FB as well

@Duluth see thats where the pessimist in me is afraid that when fozzie sees that equation....he'll just move jordie back to 15 or god forbid the wing
Nah I think ke knows the potential backlash. He'd only do it to piss off the country...oh, shit.
-
@nostrildamus ...back lash?....like losing your job?

I guess that was my point. Anyway, it is not like we have a surfeit of quality 12s..

where the fuck is Will Jordan? it's becoming a very long time since he played a game.

Stevenson better keep up his current level
-
@mariner4life I think they said he'll return after the Crusaders' bye? He was training with the team during the warm-up for the Brumbies game.
-
Pity about Sevu - he had that electric spark that could create a try out of literally nothing, I felt he was somewhat under-utilized by the AB's.
Still opens the door for Stevenson even more, he certainly has pace and the eye for a gap, but his solid defense and booming boot lends his game to suit the pressure cooker atmosphere for the RWC moreso than an out and out flyer.
-
I’d like them to give him plenty of games then, because it’s taken him years to be this good at Super level.
I’m not sure he will go to the next level as smoothly without being rocks and diamonds again (ABXV performances were very promising though).
-
@gt12 Yeah and that's a fair enough point, whether his improvement is due to just a good run of form or he's found his niche and worked hard on his skill set we won't know till he takes that next step up.
This year he just seems to be a lot more diamonds than rocks, seems to have put away the low percentage plays, uses his boot to get him (and the team) out of trouble and is finishing well. So I think he deserves a shot.
Whether he will be successful in the international game where there is much less time, space and a lot more pressure well, who knows
