I see the girlfirend said he was unarmed etc.

Apparently she was right beside him when shot.... why didn't they shoot her too if they were going to shoot him, unarmed?

I naturally side with the police despite lack of information. If he was selling/making drugs, then you have to expect that you may be shot...
-

"They busted in our front doors, then they announced themselves. They forced entry and fired shots. That was that.

Reminds me of the old TRG: The joke was "knock, knock, bang bang, Police hands up"

Taking the girlfriend's story with a mountain of salt given the NZ Police don't have much of a gun toting reputation. In fact they're quite chilled compared to here or the US.
-
As usual the feral was lying http://i.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/82044490/Police-say-shot-man-was-armed

and like clockwork everyone on Stuff is condemning the Police for killing him and not merely wounding him cos that's what they would do.....

It seems this is also part of the problem in the US. White cop kills black man (actually I believe one of the recent deaths involved a Mexican cop) and protests and condemnation immediately ensue without anyone actually knowing the facts or circumstances.

Clearly something has to be done, but I don't think labelling police as racists and therefore legitimate targets is particularly helpful. Im sure many in the African American community have very legitimate grievances, but it seems many of these socalled activists are only stoking the flames rather than seeking to find real solutions. -
No shit Sherlock. I'm talking about the police being condemned and accused without anybody knowing or even caring about the facts.

Perhaps this belongs on the other thread, but that has turned into a very interesting discussion about strippers. -

so a work colleague of the deceased man said it was totally out of character for him to have done what the police say, and he is a bit miffed about it; guess that settles it, police were just picking on him! Much like the serial killer neighbor - he pretty much kept to himself, was a nice young man.

Sad for his family http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/82076214/police-shooting-victim-sank-into-addiction

Another dude shot.

I'm working in Rotorua today and missed being stuck in the traffic because of this by about 90 seconds.

Apparently he went at a police car with a slasher/machete and then got a police office too (Maybe in the head). Was shot three times.

All the above is speculation though through people that are posting on Facebook straight after the incident.

Streets are really quiet at the moment. Is it a full moon or something?
-

Cue the ferals/morons on social media saying the police overreacted and they should have gone in and swept his leg, put him in an armlock and waited for help to arrive.
-

I reckon, none of the useless cops willing to sacrifice himself to save the poor soul with the machete being shot!
-

as in "show us where daddy hit you with the axe"?

my mistake.
-
I just love the "why didn't they shoot him in the leg or something" comments that appear on social media after these sorts of things.

In regards to the first shooting, I always enjoy it when the scummy partners come out (like the recent one in Paeroa)and say that they were unarmed, or shot in the back and it gets tonnes of media coverage, but the post mortem results showing gunshot wounds to the chest of the offender barely get a mention. You would think if the AOS were there in the first place, the guy wasn't a "gentle giant" as suggested by his family, and if they were the ones who shot him, he was probably holding a gun...
