The change of coach hasn't had the desired effect. The Comm Games result seems like an aberration now.

Quite different this game, only the bangles but still, some aggressive, positive batting has led to the highest t20 score this tournament and Mazda being the first player to crack a grand in t20 rwcs with 81* off 61.

Green with a brilliant role, unlucky not to get a half tonne, ending up 44* off 20.

    189/3.

    NZ post 162.

    Pressure is on.

1st ball to sri Lanka is 5 wides, only about a metre or so down leg side.

Should change their name to Black Caps.

They smack Sri Lanka by heaps - but, need the Bangles to tip over SA to make the semis.

    Probably finding form too late.

Probably a mixture of form and the level of the opposition. Two good wins to finish pool play, but with the way the White Ferns operate it may (again) be used to gloss over the deeper issues. Still, there's a glimmer of hope if that Bangles pace bowler can knock over the SA top order.

I can't find it now, but I'm sure there was a Tweet that counted just how many times senior men's and women's teams from SA had tried and fallen short up until now...

In completely unsurprising news, the Australian women win their sixth T20 World Cup. 19 run win over South Africa in the final.

Has anyone been following the Yorkshire Cricket/Azeem Rafiq Racism case? Just read some reports on the inquiry into Michael Vaughn and it looks as though the whole thing has become a mixture of the Keystone Kops, blackmail, vested interests, corporate lying, a fit-up or incompetence on a mind-boggling scale.

E.g. the ECB relied on two players' word & didn't bother to contact the other 6 players involved when Vaughn was said to have made racist comments, nor the Umpires or the TV cameraman who was there at the time - and didn't speak to Vaughn before bringing charges. Complete fiasco.

Not really following it but isn’t it a bit of a storm in a teacup ? On the extremely low end of “racist abuse” ?

Feel free to correct me if I’m sounding racist and bigoted.

The outcomes of the various hearings and governing body decisions seem to far outweigh the original actions even if allegations are true.
Absolutely a storm in a teacup. Legal moves and arse covering decisions making a mockery of any form of “justice “
What’s that old quote “This isn’t a court of justice son, this is a court of law”

So from the cheap seat I’m in it sounds like he’s using the race card and being offended by something that’s probably not that offensive ?

I could be wrong but Vaughan always struck me as a gentleman of the game.

It seems the real scandal is how the Storm in a Teacup has been handled and how the ECB seems to have tried to fit Vaughn up on the basis of some very dodgy "evidence" and didn't check even the basic facts. They are not coming out of this well and there are rumours that Plod is looking at things like conspiracy.

As Vaughn said, it reflect really badly on Cricket.

@Victor-Meldrew There have been reports of some dodgy twitter posts from Vaughan from around the same period that are in the same vein as the alleged abuse e.g. Not many English people live in London.. I need to learn a new language..

MV has apologised for "disgusting tweets" but denies he said (something similar TBH) to Rashid.

ECB are running scared and Vaughan's revenue streams are drying up rapidly

An important note. TSF's favourite left arm fast bowler made a lot of kids very happy at the Mount and Papamoa cricket clubs junior prizegivings over the weekend.

We don't seem to have our photos up yet, but Papamoa has some good pics and posts: https://www.facebook.com/papamoacricketclub

Central stags win the plunket shield in pretty remarkable circumstances. Was a must win match that had lost a day to rain and got helped twice, firstly by Auckland declaring while still 100 runs behind in their first innings and then collapsing to 103 all out in 30 overs in their second innings.

Good of Auckland to try and get a result with rain.
