Noticed that this ref wasn’t as eager to hurry them along as last week. Wasn’t really an issue in the Saders-Landers game since it was over so soon. Interested to see how it’s managed on Saturday.
None of the Aussie refs have applied the 'speeding up' that well. Virtually no differnce.

How did lakai and Higgins go
they were two of the players that triggered my comment about average games from some guys that get fluffed a lot on here.
Lol Higgins came on with a couple mins to go. Can’t really judge a player on a couple mins.
We have to remember Super is a big step up from NPC. Higgins and Lakai looked superb at NPC but I’m sure it will take a little while for them to find their feet at Super. Let’s give them a bit of time before making judgements. Lakai was good last week, quiet last night. Let’s be a little patient, they are only kids at this point.
In saying that Roigard who isn’t much older looked superb last night, but even he has taken a few years playing a few mins here and there to find his feet.

Apologies. Confused him with Godfrey for a minute there.
Iose, Morgan, Lakai all very average and Moorby seemed more cold than hot IMO.

Just watched this morning without knowing the result ,
Who is the canes attack coach ? Some of the ball in hand stuff they do looks great.
I
I think it is Tyler Bleyendaal
Agree on this point. When on the front foot the Canes looked very crisp and organised in the backs

Yeah Iose is not a 6, Morgan is very up and down.

This is why Lakai missing out on the All Blacks XV at the end of last year wasn't without reason (despite your complaints at the time).

I don’t remember complaining about Lakai. It was more Delany who definitely should have been there.

Early season but the Canes have some starch in their forward pack to go with the usual flash. Walker-Leawere put in a real busy shift. Only concern would be at loosehead at set piece.
The Stan team keep playing the Ardie incident on TV and on the big screen endlessly while at the same time wailing how bad it was for kids to see it..... Wot? -

Rakete-Stones is usually the starting LH. Not sure why he hasn't played in rounds 1 and 2; maybe he has a minor injury that they hoped would heal in time for this game, but didn't?

Apart from the red last night Mafileo is our best loosehead IMO. He’s starting to develop into a quality prop and he’s young which is a bonus.
-
@Canes4life PR-S was the regular starter, last season.

Mafileo is still better, he’s bigger, better in the carry, holds his own at scrum time. If he isn’t suspended he should be starting next week.
If PRS was our best prop he would have featured already.
It’s clear that our best front row is Mafileo, Aumua and Lomax.

Colour me surprised, you think a Hawkes Bay player should be starting. PRS is average. Numia had his number in the NPC twice this year. Mafileo is clearly the best of the three, if you don’t think so you clearly haven’t been watching close enough.

@Canes4life LoL. Pot, kettle, black

Didn’t realise Mafileo was from Wellington?
-
@Canes4life Mate, you do it all over the Fern, not just in this thread. And you brought Numia up, who didn't even mark PR-S in the NPC, as they both play LH. Or haven't you noticed yet that LHs stand opposite THs in the scrum?

Bleyendaal was appointed backs/skills coach for 2021 season, they didn't have 4th coach in 2020 as Spencer was cut, Holland is still heavily involved with the attack despite being head coach, there's a reason Razor wants him as his attack coach for 2024.

Hahah that is rich coming from you. The guy who has to mention a Hawkes Bay player on almost every thread.
Numia was the better tight-head in the NPC, and stood out more when Wellington bt Hawkes Bay twice, but I still wouldn’t have him ahead of Mafileo who is clearly the best tighthead at the Canes. Take your Hawkes Bay eyepatch off and actually watch Mafileo, did you not notice how impactful he was coming off the bench last week? You’re comparing him to a guy that can’t even make the 23, it’s quite hilarious. But I guess someone has to back the battlers from the Bay. Good on you.
