I remember the ex-Mrs Meldrew, who was a professional musician, telling me his stuff was really complex but sounded so very simple and accessible. Only one opinion, but she rated him up there with Gershwin & Shubert musically.

Must be close. He's been ubiquitous for 7 whole decades and, according to Wiki, had his first hit in 1952. Extraordinary body of work which rivals Macca.

I did not realise Welch was Bolivian and took her first husband's surname to avoid prejudice and type casting
Rita Hayworth was another woman that to do that , she even had to change her appearance. I imagine the 1940s version of electrolysis they used to alter her hairline was fairly brutal
