@Hooroo isn't it decided? i thought they'd agreed the new contract
Nah. They are deciding today. It’s live on stuff.
Non binery folk aren’t supportive, it appears. (This was in the submission a few moments ago)

Interesting, you'd think that they wouldn't assume it as a yes / no distinction.

who would take on a fixed price contract in the current climate, unless your price is way above market?
Sure you price in contingencies, but the world be crazy and prices escalating, and the time frames involved here...

From a business perspective that's the most stupid decision I have ever seen. If another price hike hits you have basically garenteed that your business is going down the drain. And at best the building company has garenteed that they won't make money on the job.

@Mackerzzzz thats not true, they have not guaranteed they wont make any money, they made the deal at the tail of covid when shipping materials was the hardest, lots to suggest they will become easier to source....and they will have hiked a huge premium onto the price to be locked in....the construction company is the last one im worried about

thought there might be some webcams or something but couldn't see any, regularly checked in on the webcams for Forsyth Barr

@Kiwiwomble I'm astonished they're actually commencing work on this.

doesn't seem like a cracking pace considering it was signed off in July last year

Artist's impression, subject to design development

@Kiwiwomble All the renders of the stadium have that caveat attached.
Pretty pictures mean SFA once the value engineers get their mitts on a design.
-
@dogmeat ok, just confirming the context, you referring to my comment on the progress? as in they may have gone back to the drawing board? ture in principle but to reliably submit a tender price (especially a fixed price) they will have had to be more than 80-90% reference design (if not well into detail design), meaning the things outstanding will be the door handles and paint colour

@Stargazer definitely been dragging, my understanding as the propoerty issues were sorted a while ago, only build left on that whole block last time i was in chch a few years ago is the pump station and theyre building around that
