Foster, Robertson etc

I honestly believe the NZR will as always appoint the man they rightly or wrongly believe has the skills and experience to do job.
I think you may be the one person on here that sincerely believes that.
And do they say winning super rugby is more important than bringing up a team to 5th place in World cup, who knows, not me anyway.
Our aim is to world cups, I want a coach who is known for getting his team across the line consistently in knock-out matches.
Jamie Joseph had arguably the best NPC team at Wellington for multiple seasons and they could never get across the line at the end when it really mattered and claim titles. They had arguably the best talent coming through in most positions.
In his 6 seasons, the Highlanders finished 11th, 9th, 14th, 5th, 1st, 5th. 53% win-rate.
Not a bad record, but not particularly outstanding either.

Fake news. Dixon never scored that try.

@kiwi_expat Yep well tell me about Hansen's record outside of ABs? And Deans who was and still is incredibly successful at super and now league one in Japan. I will leave it to experts to work out what is best.
I surprised that everyone (apart from me) thinks NZR don't select who they think is best for job ( rightly or wrongly) as you say.. Why do they select coaches?

I'm struggling with your point here. Please explain?

And Foster was an unmitigated disaster at Super Rugby level which is why he should never have been allowed anywhere near the All Blacks head coach role. It's only the appointment of Schmidt and Ryan that saved his skin and allowed him to escape the season with a still historically poor 4 losses. Would have been 5, if not for that French referee in Bledisloe II, and the draw with England was a fittingly dismal end to the year.
At least having Foster as AB coach has done wonders for my blood pressure. I go into most big matches half expecting to lose these days so it's much easier to take when the inevitable poor performances unfold.

Rennie could be a good fit for Fiji although if Cotter's reasons are more around Fiji Rugby rather than as stated then it will be a difficult job to fill with quality.
Fiji have occasionally looked like really stepping up especially when they are allowed to draw on NH players. -

@Crucial I believe Rennie is still contracted this year to RA on gardening leave.
Forgot that. Of course Oz would be in fear of losing to Fiji (again)

The Black Ferns need a new head coach, too (Whitney Hansen has declined the promotion, I think).
She has said she isn't ready yet (which is a little different as she did so before being asked).
The money is on Alan Bunting who appears to have ditched his Manawa job in anticipation.
Either he will be announced before Aupiki so everyone knows who they are trying to impress and he can do his job openly from the stands as a selector, or it will be kept under wraps to not distract from the comp.
I understand that there are a number of BF pro contract places becoming available (numbers are capped) so selection identification is going to be very important. I am picking that assistants stay they same although possibly Aupiki coaches will be being judged as well. -

Rennie is also out of the running for the AB job too (according to Newshub). He isn't going to return to SR first, NZR.
