@Stargazer I reckon that ball reached the plane, not the full ball but the tip of it.
France hold on and get the penalty goal at the death.

Does this kid have much pedigree in 15s? I did a quick google and could only find references to sevens.

@Crazy-Horse He did pretty well at 1st XV level for Scots College (Wellington). Definitely one of their stand-out players in 2019 and that's why he made the Hurricanes U18 team and NZ Secondary Schools team that year. IIRC, in 2020 and 2021 he played club rugby in Wellington and was named in the Wellington Lions squad for the 2021 NPC season. He played only one game for them. He then moved to BOP to join the NZ sevens programme. He was named in the 2022 BOP Steamers team for the NPC, but didn't play. He may have been injured?
I think sevens was always going to be his code, after shining at the Condor Sevens and being named the Ignite 7s MVP in 2019. It was his Ignite 7s performance that earned him a spot in the 2020 All Blacks Sevens Development Camp. That will have kick-started his sevens career.

Might head in tomorrow. $20 ticket, free public transport included. Will be a warm day but the stadium looks ace
This is the Sydney 7s? I didn't even know it was on. I did sweet fuck all today so might have gone for $20 to check out the stadium.
I'll shout the first round.
And the fucking tickets weren't $20 😡 but I got a deal through the club for $30

@Tim the South African official was a disgrace ,he had been pinging players quickly , holding the ball on the ground througout the tournament in a crucial call he called a knock on but you could clearly see the french player with his hands still onto the ball when the Aussie player tries to lift the ball, that caused the knock on , as for the last penalty , you just shake your head ..only takes 1 or 2 poor calls to lose a game in sevens .
-
@Steven-Harris. Agreed. Thought the ref in NZ v Samoa qf was inconsistent with rulings also. You want all refs in a 7s tournament to be similar with breakdown rulings and vigilance re forward pass and knock on.
Spencer looks like a keeper for NZ. Has good composure and urgency. Rush is getting better and Solo looks very good.
Still worried about limited linebreak capability in this team. Just Carter and Rokolisoa creating regularly. Several of our players seem to be slowing down a bit and some newbies not showing enough composure in recent events.
Maybe the restricted and structured game plan is a good idea as the team introduces a few new players. Hope to see more of Vai and Cook Savage as well as Spencer and Solo.
NZ women have transitioned well. Miller Kaka and Hotham are all front line performers now. Tyla seems a bit off her game currently. If her kick accuracy returns they will be hard to beat.

Eek, you got jibbed.
I've got stuff on today so can't go.
Weird that I haven't seen any advertising for it whatsoever. Usually they have those flag things advertising it.

I had no idea it was on this weekend, otherwise we would've gone.

Ref shows hesitation in following TMO's recommendation and seems to want to see the try on the big screen, but changes his mind and decides to follow TMO. Result: yellow card for the GB player for an early tackle and penalty try to Ireland. I think the TMO got that wrong. Now the momentum has changed and Ireland scores again, taking back the lead. Not good.
FT: Ireland 21 - 19 GB
