NZ v Pakistan 2022/23

The series showed how even (and unpredictable) these two teams are. Great to see Phillips middle it more often than not. Some excellent spin/slow bowling from the Pakistani’s.
Awesome to get the series win.

In this learning environment, I give @TSF-Bot one day until it's abusively racist against Cantabs.
And yet you are still here? At least Hong Kong Phooey took his bleating elsewhere.
I for one would heartily enjoy a TSF-GPT.
If posts failed to be sufficiently different from what it output, say within 90%, they could be auto-deleted. The Foster thread would be a lot more readable (although, no doubt, some of my more witless "contributions" to that thread would probably not fare too well).
This is what I actually got:
*My training data only goes up until 2021, so I can only provide information on New Zealand cricketers up until that point in time. My three favorite New Zealand cricketers are:
Kane Williamson, who is considered one of the best batsmen in the world and is known for his calm and composed demeanor on the field.
Trent Boult, who is a left-arm fast bowler and is known for his ability to swing the ball both ways. He is also a solid lower-order batsman.
Ross Taylor, who is a top-order batsman and is known for his ability to score runs in all formats of the game. He is also a solid fielder.* -

Someone needs to recalibrate the system.

Me : No love for Danny Morrison?
It : While it is difficult for me to have personal preferences as I am an AI but i can tell you that Morrison was one of the best fast bowlers for New Zealand during his career and also known for his aggressive attitude on the field.

Jeez, I reckon it was a tongue in cheek comment. I found it amusing.

Yeah me too a bit of an over sensitive reaction.

We'll see when the rugby starts whether it was tongue in cheek or if he actually does think the Fern is biased against Canterbury.
Both of you have been round long enough to know the actual answer to that.

I take it as tougue in check.
Yep been around long enough on the Fern to gauge a lot of things -
I didn’t watch the game cos too late. But how do those that did rate Kanes innings? Crucial in the context of the game, or too slow (again) to the extent that he put huge pressure on Phillips?
Obviously the runs were important, but I wonder if a special innings like Phillips produced is masking the same issues we keep seeing with Kane in the shorter form of the game?
You certainly can’t ask Phillips to bat like that every game, though I guess he had 11 balls to spare so maybe he didn’t quite need to here!

Anyone been following the T20/ODI tour of Pakistan? I didn’t even realise it was on
I see we lost the first two T20’s over the weekend.. another one tomorrow morning
I saw on the news that Chapman got a 60 in a losing effort. But the bowlers apart from Henry got some stick. Feels odd typing that last bit....

Not a good start to Grant Bradburns coaching career as an international coach, losing both 20/20s so far.
He's coaching Pakistan!
Outside of Chapman, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th-string players haven't taken their chances so far. Some are clearly not up to it. Even some of the regulars haven't fronted.
As a side note, there is a big Canterbury flavour in the NZ XI.

No.
Although, I reckon it might be interesting(ish) towards the end of the series and may be worth a watch by then, during the ODIs, if they acclimatise and might nick a game or 2. But, with Arsenal botching the Premier League run-in, I might not still have Sky on by then.
But it is full strength Pak (not allowed to participate in IPL) v 2nd string NZ (missing all IPL players).. So, a bit of a mis-match.

If anything, coaching Pakistan to wins over the Black Caps is a great audition after recent comments in NZ Cricket about having a specialist limited overs coach.
-
Also, Bradburn coached Scotland for 4 years, including at a world cup. So, not the start of his career as an international coach.
That took me down a wikipedia rabbit hole, where from a quick perusal of when they last won stuff - I have concluded that Northern Districts have been crap since he left, apart from in T20.
