This looks like it’s worth a listen
Next time hide the other DVDs in your collection.

Well @Tim 's clip references it as the first music video which is the common misconception.
Just to really trigger you The Beatles where the first group to consistently create short promotional films of singles.
Where Nesmith does deserve credit is that when he realised how well the video to Rio had done he pitched the idea of a TV channel dedicated to playing music videos to a TV producer. A couple of years later said Produce launched MTV.
As for Rio I thought that it made top 3 in NZ but have looked it up and it peaked at #4 kept out by Telephone Line by ELO, I don't Wanna Talk About it by Rockin Rod and I Feel Love by Donna Summer then later Ma Baker by Boney M So arguably not the worst song that charted at that time given the top 40 also included David Soul John Denver The Floaters and Sherbet
Kiwi bands to chart were Enz with I see Red and Hello Sailor with Gutter Black Oh and this banger

Not my cup of tea, much preferred when Lindsay sang to be honest.
In any case she sold a fuck ton of records so good on her.
RIP.
I’m in the other camp. I alwAys thought that when Fleetwood Mac teamed up with Bukingham Nicks and went all soft rock west coasty, they lost a lot of wha made them a serious band. Still made some good stuff but so different.
Currently watching a doco on BBC4 about Ms Perfect. Good watching
I’m different again. Take nothing away from C McVie, a wonderfully talented, beautifully voiced musician ….
But Stevie Nicks is arguably the best singer / front woman in rock history. Her voice and presence is second to none IMHO.

You’ve got that bit right. For starters Fleetwood Mac barely qualify as rock…..and I’d pick Joan Jett, Ann Wilson, Janis Joplin and indeed her own recently departed band mate over her.
@Bovidae it’s amazing how many people don’t know about their early stuff when they were all blokes and released some bluesy crunchers.
Just goes to show that chicks ruin everything.

There’s a qualification? I didn’t know there was even a test 🤷♂️

I can't really think of another genre outside rock. They certainly aren't pop & I'm not sure I'd call them progressive either! Wikipedia says they are a rock band as well, and that's about as gospel as the internet gets .... (taking the piss obviously).
Music obviously very subjective here and we clearly differ, but for me Nicks followed closely by Chrissie Hynde are a cut above. I just think they have beautiful voices.
Won't disagree with you on Joplin, epic voice. But a very different genre of music.

Yeah Rock is pretty broad. I think a bit heavier when I think of that word. …but yeah, they’re not pop either.

He should go on tour with The Strokes

Blimey, just read that Pantera have started touring again.
Obviously a bit tough with half the band dead, but it seems that the surviving 2 have teamed up with Zakk Wylde (awesome) and somebody I've not heard of (Anthrax drummer).
CAn't see how Anselmo's voice can still have it myself, surely gotta be like Axl Rose these days. Will keep a lookout and if they swing by (surely), I may well go and check them out.

He’s a hell of a player. Everyone wanks on about Randy Rhoads but ZW has kicked arse for Ozzy for ages.
I can see that combo working brilliantly.

i saw some social media vids of the first show in Mexico City
It wasn't bad, though the sound quality of the vid was pretty average.
