I have a creek at the bottom of the driveway which flooded blocking access to our house for a day, very minor compared to all those impacted by floodwaters. I just worry about the future costs of Insurance with all the natural disasters or my house becoming uninsurable at some point.
-
I follow a page on FB called Higgins Storm Chasing - weather events and warnings from around Australia, as well as some really cool shit.
There is some gnarly shit going on - tornadoes in South Australia, for example. Some extremely cool images, alongside the repeated news of idiots driving into flood waters.

tropical summer is well underway
it's hot as satan's sweaty ball sacks. and all that heat means storms. kids rugby called off on friday for too much lightning.

……and it’s not even Summer for over a month.
Fuck that. I really don’t know how people cope, I guess you get used to it over time ?

sort of? it still sucks. but air con, a pool, and a house desiged to catch rainforest breezes. But yeah some days you just don't go outside.
I've already told Mrs Mariner that the goal has to be to make enough money so that in retirement we can have a house somewhere southern to do summer.

I think it’s the “year round” factor which would get to me, even mid year it’s still in the 20s insist it ? The other half has family in Shield Snorters and we’ve had a couple of hot summers there where it’s “officially” late 20s but the garden temperature dial is mid 30s.
Definitely good weather to sit inside with all the doors open and a few Steinlager in front of the cricket.

@MN5 winter is stunning. highs of 25 every day, lows in the single digits. sunny. dry. just awesome.
So a good Wellington summer day then ?
The suns out here but it’s too fucken windy to enjoy the new outdoor furniture. If it gets any hotter I might remove one of my hoodies though….

I'm continually searching for a workplace that is based in both Sydney and Cairns so that I could spend 6 months in Sydney and then 6 months in Cairns. Sadly it appears to be a unicorn.

Fuck working, it would interfere too much with your movie, lunch and coffee engagements.

Sadly I don't have an endless pool of money so eventually I'll have to start working again ... I generally keep the lunch and coffee engagements while working though.

Get. Fucked.
Yikes.
Was hail in Howard just west of us earlier, but no reports it was that size.
Nasty storm heading our way currently:
Hopefully the Hervey Bay Dome does its job (local name for the weird phenomenon that storms from virtually any direction blow themselves out - or lose all intensity - just before reaching the Bay. It's quite common and quite uncanny.)
Don't like the black shadows in those radar images.
Just the usual spring storms ...

Interesting in the central west of NSW where they'd just been pounded again.
