That's my point. Basically you just need to get higher than the other player and if anything happens you receive the penalty.

Stander and Le Roux's cases aren't similar, he was trying to charge down a kick and took out the kicker, Le Roux was clearly going for the ball and I disagree he had no chance to catch it - hindsight tells us the Irish player leapt at the exact right time and spot to catch the ball but that's not always the case. A running player doesn't have the benefit of hindsight and it's their duty to contest the ball.

But this opinion differs very much from the way these laws have been applied. It's been proven that the running player's duty is make sure the catcher doesn't land on his head, e.g. Emery, Payne, The stormer

Emery did what le Roux did. The Stormer basically did what Le Roux did

Naholo did what Le Roux did and we were told that if the welshman had landed more dangerously that naholo would face a higher punishment.

Working on what we've been told that the landing determines your fate, well what's worse than landing on your neck and then not being able to play in the rest of the game.? Le Roux knew he dodged a bullet as did all the commentators.

It's not about if the law is right or wrong, it's a bout consistent application of the law

I'm fucking glad Jackson will never ref my team, he's all over the place with his rulings
-

That he's been cited makes it a greater mockery.

I can't help it if the WR and their refs have got their interpretation wrong. ;)
-

I expect that if Ireland win the series then that will further enhance their decision.

Gee I feel sorry for Bok supporters at the moment.

Not really sure how supporting England helps those SA players who continue to play their hearts out for the Boks. I hate quotas but I can only hope that they continue to spread the game in the country so that rugby can grow across all races. Not so much that the Boks will have a particular racial make up but so that a diverse fan base can speak out against the politicians. -

Becasue the players that are playing aren't the players that should be playing.

I can totally see why they are disheartened with the boks
-

Le Roux banned for a week. Of super rugby. For an offence they consider was worthy of a red card.

Justified frustration from the Irish I suspect - given the environment, whatever your thoughts, they are ruling that shit as red all day long these days. Ref bottled it
-
I would say most of the players in the team deserve to be there, it's hardly their fault if there are a handful of players who shouldn't be there, I take my hat off to them for staying in SA and wearing the Bok jersey, if it were my team I would give the players my full support. -
Its not my country but I do know a fair bit about the place and the only thing I can say with all certainty is its not the players fault even the ones who should not be there. It's a complicated country with a complicated history, rugby fans like you and me say it's awful and should stop but unfortunately a lot of people still associate the Boks with a pretty ugly history. I think it can change but I think exposing as many people to the game will bring that about. In the meantime you just hope the Boks can hang on until that happens.

I guess it is easy to say that when you have nothing to do with the team or the country

It's also easier to be more objective about players - in the past I've seen players get tagged with quota who I'd select above players not considered quota (and some white players who I think aren't good enough to be there, even over other white players).
-

I tuned into the U20 SA vs Arg game on Saturday night expecting to see a predominantly black SA team.

Nup. Actually it was whiter than the big boys to my ignorant eye. Quite a few that would be termed coloureds back in the day though.

Don't know how this fits into their transformation process but thought it was a bit strange

Good game though, first 15 I thought the Argies would be blown away but they prevailed and looked bloody good doing it
-
Haha, yeah, quotas based on race make no sense. My boy is mixed, so does that make him black or white?? Or does he count as 1/2 a white player and 1/2 a black player in the overall numbers? It's completely retarded and is not, and never will be, the right way to encourage black people to play rugby.
-
That was a hopeless challenge by Le roux. Hopeless on so many ways.

I don't like the current rules, but even if I had them changed, that would still be foul play imo.

Where as eg Naholo in second test was just late but with an orthodox catch attempt, this was just Hail Mary shit.

Edit. But in saying that, a yellow would be the right punishment in my parallel universe for Le Roux. Where as a Naholo on the scale wouldn't even be a penalty. -

Sounds like a joke now but the difference between being mixed race , black and white used to determine your status, employment, education, life expectancy and many other things. The history of that place is so messed up its hardly a surprise they are dealing with this stuff 25 odd years later. -

This Bok team will not challenge the AB. They have no power upfront and their backs are journeymen.

They have a world class lock in Du Toit (Ezebeth is over-rated imo), and their new 9 seems decent.

I don't see them troubling NZ at present.

Yeah, but fighting racism with racism is not the way to go about it. There's a reason "quotas" like this are outlawed in most countries, they are fucking stupid and create far more problems then they solve.

SA is not the only country that has a history of very bad racism. But they are the only country trying to "fix" it using more racism.
-

Argentina were very poor against France (lost 27 - 0 against a French team composed of second stringers). I fear they won't win a single game in the RC.
