@Tim For a backup openside, the main options within the franchise area would be Mitch Jacobson, Jacob Norris and Tom Florence. All have been playing well, although Florence has been absent a lot.

CM can't add much to the options at the moment sadly. Bit of a dry zone for opensiders of quality at the moment.

Has a disgraceful past for sure. I have no idea how 'reformed' he is now so can't add much else.
I haven't heard of any trouble since so maybe he learned?

@Bovidae I felt Veveni Lasaqa played more strongly than Norris when given the chance. But, Adam Brash is quite explosive and worth a look too in my view.

McCurran has been consistently good in the NPC. He may lack experience but not mongrel.

I personally thought he should have received a far bigger punishment for his crime.

However, he’s allowed to play professional rugby and is a good player and I’d like the Chiefs to have good players.

    Scruples schmuples.

    @Yeetyaah

Only 1 year for a 23-year old. Seems a little odd.

Ah Kuoi, BBBR and Vaa'i are all locked in for next year. If the rumours of MSR are true who misses out from McWhannell and Lord?
I can see the point of MSR taking BBBRs spot in the roster from 2024 but cant see them carrying 6 locks next year to make it happen.
McWhannell is too good to not play Super so where does he go?

I hope McWhannell isn't going anywhere, but the Blues wouldn't say no.

I don't think that Ah Kuoi will be considered as a frontline lock in the future, more a 6 who can play lock. The Chiefs need to keep the players they've got because you seldom get them back.

PGS's future might make things a little clearer, if he asks for an early release.

McMillan has talked about having better squad balance for 2023. To me, that applies to the loose forwards and outside backs.

I guess that MSR could push Ah Kuoi into Mitch Browns 'spot' in the squad as a loosie. 10 loosies on the roster is also over the top although there does seem to be some banking for the future.

As I've mentioned, the Chiefs need another specialist no.7 to backup Cane. Those problems were evident this season when he was injured, as moving a player from their preferred (better) position isn't a good solution.

I hope that the MSR rumour isn't true.

@Bovidae honestly wouldn't mind if McCurran got the backup 7 spot

McCurran is more of a 6/8.

Mate I talking of McWhannell at lock, a position we could do with a bit more depth.

I would more than happily sign McWhannell if the Chiefs don’t want him. Seems like a powerful carrier, and also quite mobile for a lock.
