@Crucial The most uncertain part of that scenario is whether the Black Ferns have improved enough to beat France. I hope they have.
Hopefully England have to play them in the semi.

So after the conclusion of the Pacific Four Series the rankings have changed. Canada drops below France, which is more reflective of the relative strengths of both teams. Canada being ranked 3rd when the draw was made has given us England and France in the same pool. Australia drops down and the USA rises. England are still way out in front.

RWC organisers pulling out a big effort for the opening day at EP.
Want to take the kids to 3 matches (including NZ v Oz) for $5 including gigs by Benee, Shapeshifter and Rita Ora? Decent adult prices too, $40 for a stand.
World record for a women's match is about 20k and they are looking to blow that away.
This sounds like a great value day out. I'm considering flying up for it.

Rugby World Cup organisers have set their sights on selling out Eden Park for the opening match day of the tournament after announcing that ticket sales have already surpassed 30,000.

The Orcettes are not slowing down, 25 wins in a row, and happy to take some one off as a precaution, even after they'd emptied the bench

Everyone else -
Watching that Black Ferns doco last night (Ep1, was really good) and the BFs looked very very underprepped for that tour last year. Bodyheights/positions, defence systems etc have all improved since then.
Not saying that England and France won't have improved as well but I don't think we will be anywhere near as poor as that tour. -

@NTA I am confident that we are above USA. If fact Aus may even be above them as well if not alongside.
After watching Fijiana beat our best side fairly comfortably, and knowing the state of womens XVs here, I'm not as confident.
The rankings adequately reflect where we are: a team of amateurs under the administration of amateurs.
All the Shute Shield clubs are meant to have XVs sides in 2023 and not even half of them will get there because the effort from club admins is zero. Massive opportunity for growth in rugby - and probably the only opportunity for growth in rugby - and they refuse to divert resources into it.

We really should have at least a crossover between the two country's comps.

Side rant: as an admin for a small club, we've got a womens 7s side that has had varying degrees of success and participation the last 3 seasons (thanks COVID and Gen Z bitchiness). TBH we lack the volunteers to give it a full go, and the competition they play in is tournament Sundays where the mens play Saturdays.
I'm also a Board member for our Suburban comp and we've identified womens as very important to get going on Saturdays and play alongside the mens. Either as 7s (maybe longer halves) or 10s.
I have refereed a couple of the womens Sunday tournaments this year, as well as running one at our club. Every time the tournament notice goes out, clubs are told they need to supply an AR. The ones that usually do are Subbies clubs. Premier don't even give a fuck enough to supply more than a manager/coach on the day, and they're the fluffybunnies with all the money.
The Premier Rugby Board just expects everyone to turn up and fall over themselves to be part of their great "grassroots" rugby, instead of actually finding the means to make their operations sustainable. They've got no idea what grassroots means, they just wave the word around and complain that nobody funds their shitty product.

I would have loved to jet over there and catch a couple of games, and was even planning to earlier in the year, but fuck the costs of flights, quite frankly.
That’s dedication. Most people I know can’t even get off their arses to watch mens Rugby at the stadium let along go overseas for woman’s rugby.

And the biggest joke of this: sometimes our little club will be playing against teams with rep players or NSW wider squad girls.
Why? "Oh because we had XVs yesterday so we're missing a few people. You don't mind if we drop down into your grade and still smash fuck out of everyone yeah?"
It is easy to ref, mind you, as you're only going between halfway and the goal posts at one end.
