An ALB update, as he returned to training yesterday.

All going well, Lienert-Brown is targeting Waikato’s final regular season game against Bay of Plenty in Hamilton on October 2, though also threw out the possibility of an appearance for Thames Valley or King Country in the Heartland Championship.

He has also been part of the Waikato coaching staff, not just running the water.

Back up to fourth, not so good for Oz in 8th. Lowest ever?

    1 Ireland 90.03
    2 France 89.41
    3 South Africa 87.89 (+1.42)
    4 (↑5) New Zealand 86.41 (+0.62)
    5 (↓4) England 86.25
    6 (↑7) Argentina 82.32 (-0.62)
    7 (↑8) Scotland 81.93
    8 (↓6) Australia 81.54 (-1.42)
    9 Wales 81.28
    10 Japan 77.74

A 1.42 point shift is huge in the scheme of these rankings. I guess that in a period of volatility these shifts can happen depending on circumstance and timing.
See how we only got a 0.62 point shift for thrashing a team that beat us the week before yet SA get a big lift in points (and Oz a big drop) for a standard tit for tat win.

Away though, rather than at home ... and the context of not having won there for years!

do we actually think Fozzie will look at that and consider him a 12 now, he just strikes me as too stubborn

Considering all his changes away from preferred options so far have been due to injuries, or (in the case of coaches) forced on by outside pressure, he won't play him there.

Once he had chosen he sticks too long, and with those he hasn't chosen yet he flip flops all over the place. I hope I'm wrong

Hopefully the performance was so clear the pressure internally will be to provide Jordie another outing to back up that performance. The ridicule from outside the camp would be enormous.

    But I share your opinion.

the top team doesn't run out again for 6 weeks. Everyone will have forgotten by then in a beautiful case of "what have you done for me lately?"

Someone will play 12 against Japan and score 3 tries and will be anointed new saviour

The All Blacks will name a squad on October 9 to face Japan, Wales, Scotland and England, with about 35 players set to travel north.

Reading that, I'm feeling a bit more confident that NZR have finally started to get their act together. There's a lot to like about the interaction between Foster & McDonald's teams.

That's bad news. Swain is even more of a piston wristed gibbon to me.

Edit: Swine might be a better word to use, as it was a pig move. 😠

I wouldn't be surprised if Havili doesn't get another go at 12. Generally in ABs you don't lose spot because of injury. I was mightily impressed with Jordie on Saturday, but thought week before was more impressive as he was thrown in with no warning. I like the idea of him there because of the run, kick, and bust options he gives us, just also thought Havili was ok too. Jordie is sure to get a couple of runs during eEOYT I guess, and with a solid backline (not pussy Foley and co) hopefully he repeats performance.
I wouldn't be surprised if Mariner hasn't hit nail on head, RTS or someone will get a run against Japan and go well and we will be able to see him annointed as 12!!

Jordie is a shoe in to start against Wales, Scotland and England.

So does Fozzie leave him at 2nd 5 for all or just a couple of those and have a scenario of perhaps Havili playing 12 against Japan and Wales and Jordie against Scotland and England?

Does Beaudie start at 10 against Japan and and then bench for Wales and then 15 for Scotland and England?

With ALB coming back you could give ALB 13 for Japan and partner with Havili. They played 5 times as a pairing last year against Wales, Boks, Oz and Fiji.

Surely they have to play Perofeta or Dmac at 10 against Japan? It's one of the few games were we can build depth.

@ACT-Crusader guess it depends how proud Foster is on walking back his previous comments that he didn't see Joedie as a mid-fielder...

He has already said he thinks he may of had to rethink that, and really to be honest, I have not seen forums or papers fill of Jordie should be 12 either, although of course we all really knew it didn't we??😉 😆
Well I think I have been yelling for it!!🤣

But I do think we will see him in a couple of tests at least as I said.

What about Perofeta for the AB XV to start both matches? Bring DMac into the ABs for 10 and 15 cover.

Yeah, DMac doesn’t even need to play, just a dirt tracker getting back into the systems, there in case of emergency. RTS should go to XV, as he’s no where near at intl level, play him at 12 every match, he needs more time. Perofuture at 10, same thing every match. ALB to, with virtually no game time, play him 13 every match for XV. There’s f all game until RWC and NZ should maximise them all
