If this fight doesn't get made - and it certainly looks that way - then it appears it's all on Fury.
If that's the case, very disappointing and a move which could hurt his legacy.
Fury has been playing games for some time now , the whole retirement thing was never real ,
I actually think he believes the more you deceive and delay things you build up anticipation for when it finally happens from a money perspective, and the event becomes bigger , but it may have the opposite effect , people are getting pissed with it all

I certainly won’t be paying to watch him beat a bum
-
@MiketheSnow I think the plan all along when usyk said he won’t fight until next year was to have a tune up fight to stay active .
Calling out Aj was a publicity stunt knowing it’s not ideal timing for aj , probably thinking they would find a reason to turn it down . And I think they would’ve in the end and we’re in the process of saying the contract isn’t right as we speak . -
@kiwiinmelb Charr is an absolutely terrible opponent as well. Fury will have to carry him for a few rounds so it doesn't look like a complete waste of time.

Bob Jones telling it like it is. Sounds remarkably like one of my posts actually ! ( minus the humiliating bit, that sounds very “grumpy old man” to be honest )
That’s because He is a grumpy old man 😁.
I disagree to a point , not everyone that can’t win a title should retire , the sport would be a pretty empty place.
If he enjoys the challenge , the lifestyle, the income it brings , that’s his choice . But only he knows the answer to that .Pretty sure that was a first of a new 3
Fight deal , I reckon he will See out the
Deal then reevaluate -

Deal then reevaluateOh for sure, he was a grumpy young man too according to my Grandparents when they met him. You’d think a multi millionaire would be more cheerful.
I do agree though, a fight with Whyte is kinda the RWC equivalent of 3rd/4th playoff.
-
Only saw the highlights but doesn't sound like Parker would have any serious hope in a rematch? That opponent was a human tank.
I thought Parker said he wouldn't continue too far on in years, if so, probably time to do other things. -

Yeah his interview with Ali when he came to New Zealand was a bit awkward , to put it bluntly Ali thought he was a dickhead
Not everyone can be the top dog in any sport , I find it interesting he is more respected in a more genuine boxing environment like the uk for just being thereabouts, being a top 10 fighter in the world that took on all comers is still something to hang your hat on .
A guy like chisora is loved there for just being a warrior
-
@Bovidae Because Frank Warren was running the promotion who is Joe Joyce's promoter and it is sadly common place for promoters who run the shows to put in rematch clauses for their fighter only, even for non title fights like this.
-
@kiwiinmelb As well as Frank Warren having the rights to the show. Its funny that Warren wanted Parker to sign a 2 fight deal in hindsight which Parker declined, otherwise I would assume that Warren was gonna throw him to Daniel Dubois as well.

Parker said in an interview leading into the fight with a smile on his face , after chisora 1 they offered him the Joyce fight with no rematch clause .
After chisora 2 , they added in the clause .

@kiwiinmelb Haha, not that it mattered, but that's boxing for you, the worse you look in fights, the more likely you are to land fights on a fairer playing field.
The funniest case being the start of Wilder v Fury. Fury had come off a 3 year layoff on drugs and alcohol binges with 2 lackluster wins over Sefer Seferi and Francesco Pianeta, Wilder's team thought he'd be an easy touch with obvious name value to strengthen his case for being the A side against AJ at the time, and let's just say it was a cherry pick gone wrong for him.

Fury is like a Guy Ritchie movie just larger and more full on.

Anyone been following the progress of the benn v Eubank fight ? Wow what a fuck up ,
Things just going from bad to worse for Hearn and co
-
@kiwiinmelb Yes haha its hilarious tbh. The fight itself was a joke to begin with and now with Eddie's poster boy testing positive, its gotten even better!
Its pretty clear that Benn was juiced to the gills after he went from looking terrible and living off his dads name to all of a sudden improving out of sight and knocking out ex world champs in the blink of an eye.

Just keeps on reinforcing that the UFC is the best game in town
