Great win for the Springskoppe. That bonuspoint was much needed. Now for the grand final next week.
In the box seat I reckon. Chances of the Boks making up 13 pts in difference even if Nz also win is pretty good.
ABs will win by a lot so boks after pushing uphill.
You said that about the last game, lol

Broken clock.
Plus: Eden Park after a close game in Australia. I've seen this script before.
Plus plus: I didn't expect the ABs to be quite that shit last week.

Have youw atched this side for teh last couple of years? Consistently inconsistent, mid table internationally, and unstructured shit being dished up

You’re right. ABs by about 50.

@NTA oh goodness don't come with the usual Aussie crap.
Go look at the video - it was forward. Mapimpi is a winger, as well as a ball hog, so you could forgive him for not knowing how to pass even at professional level.
I thought the yellow on Kwagga was harsh.
Agreed but the framework got in the way, and the refs have to rule on high contact. Once they decided it was high contact, they had no option but to go YC and Penalty Try.
But nevertheless if you want to be critical I think the ref was good.
I thought Doleman - the ref - was solid and consistent.
The issue I have is with one of the ARs - Daymon Murphy - who was constantly in Doleman's ear. He got a couple right but a few of them were marginal and had practically no effect on the game.
Daymon Murphy is Australian, just in case you want to call me out for "the usual Aussie crap".

Boks also have the advantage of knowing what they need to do to win the championship.
Given the ABs will win by at least 30, Bokke will have to win by at least 44.

What a weird game. I guess we won and but for the third quarter looked pretty comfortable, but it still felt unsatisfying somehow.
I probably need to watch it again (watched it in pub with maybe a beer too many), but i am struggling to think of anything we did well in this game. The scrum was poor, the discipline shocking (so many dumb penalties), the backline atrocious, yet somehow the win and the bonus point felt inevitable.
Individually the whole starting pack (except Jasper Wiese) was really good. Jaden Hendrikse is now comfortably first choice.
Both centers were a bit shit on attack, but good on defence.
The backthree didnt have much to but didnt fuck up either so that.
Louw was very good when he came on, very busy on defence and got an important turnover.
I know i shouldnt be so negative about the boks right now. They have won the the last two games away from home with bonus points and looked pretty comfortable doing it, all without a recognised flyhalf and arguably their two best backline players (Am and Kolbe), but doesnt "feel" like we are making progress.
Itll be interesting to see what happens next week at ten cause it looks like Willemse picked up a head injury. At this stage it looks like they will have go with Frans Steyn (though we could select Malherbe there for all the good it would do, they are the same shape afterall)
Ps - Fuck Jasper Wiese
-
@SidBarret Hendrikse may have score a nice try but his kicks was very poor and he have a bit of White in him. Faf must play but he mustn't kick this saturday. Willemse was excellent on defense especially when we had yellows.
To be honest forget about the trophy, which will be a bonus At this moment I think we are in pole position towards the next WC of TRC countries. If we play well we can beat any team on a given day specially in France.
Ps I like Upington's Jasper Wiese. It's my birth town

I hope the AB’s don’t get into the mentality of trying to score as many points as possible before they actually win the game.
We need to stick to our game plan get on top in the forwards and keep our structure and hit the performance levels we are aiming for. If we do that, then the points should take care of themselves

My issue is that we are equally likely to drop a game to anyone at the moment. I think the last game we didnt go into as favourites was probably against NZ last year and since then we have dropped games to England, Wales, New Zealand and Australia.
With our gameplan and forward pack we should have a very repeatable standard, but there are just too many games where we seem to slip up mentally.

Oh and the obligatory comment on the refereeing, i thought it was fine. Didnt like call on Kwagga, as therevwas zero risk of injury, 6inches off the ground and there are dozens of the same incidents being ignored the whole game. Dont like the rule that rubbed out De Jagers try just before halftime, but that is a problem with the rulebook, not the ref.
But my god was the discipline poor from both sides, so many dumb penalties. The game ended with 33 penalties and that is a true reflection of both teams' discipline.

Before I look like a real clown, help me out here @SidBarret how was that ruled as a knock-on? For as long as I played, you could juggle the ball as much as you like and provided you knocked it back, it isn't a knock-on... What rule do I not know?
-
@Billy-Webb yeah that was an interesting interpretation, he knocked it forward with one hand then back with the other, so Doleman decides he must regather after the initial knock, rather than just tap it back. Can't recall seeing that before either...was Foley watching?
-
@Billy-Webb apparently you now need to catch the ball cleanly after knocking it forward, no idea what harm this rule is trying prevent. Just seems like one more thing refs can fuck up.

Doleman may have created a rod for his own back.
