What a way to break an 8 year hoodoo at the MCG.
Neale once again led the clearances and tackles for Brissy.
Hipwood, Cameron and Bailey excellent up forward.
Now if Freo tonight….
that is mad for a team that has been a top 8 team for the last couple of seasons at least and how many games are played at the MCG

Brisbane don't get many. And then throw in the fact that we have been a top 8 team through COVID where finals were at the 'gabba and Perth (and our pretty ordinary finals return)
A lot of the MCG tenants take our game away (Hawthorn to tassie).
But it has been an issue.

@mariner4life yeah, i assuemd there were reasons, just when all you think about is 6 of the 18 teams call the MCG home and some have been rubbish over at least the last few years...so you would have thought they would have snuck a win...but as you say a lot of games were moved out over melbourne over the last couple of years

really regretting not going to the Bledisloe now, with the prelim on the Friday as well
-
@mariner4life i have the bledisloe on thursday, club presentation night on friday and then premlim with a good mate that is a dyed in the wool pies fan on sat...im too old and will burn hot and fast but i'll give it a go!

thoughts for the Prelims?
I actually give the Lions a decent chance against the Cats at the 'G. I wouldn't have picked us to win either of the two finals so far, but there seems a bit more of an edge around the Lions at the moment. Playing two games that have gone very deep might mean they are too tired in teh 4th.
Swans should be too good for the Pies. Double figure win
If i was having a bet i would still pick the Cats and the Swans
Only question mark is what influence the lack of game time will have.
-
Also if Berry gets a week for that i will be fucking livid.

Narrator: Berry did not get a week for that, justice was served.
Prelim weekend is always tasty. A weekend for the footy fans before the corporates take over for GF day.
Two rested sides waiting around to fulfill their destiny. One playing a side that had a very close loss, but bounced back for a convincing win. A side that doesn't really know when they are beat, and will make Sydney work right to the wire.
The other playing a side that entered the finals with what looked like the worst form, and the worst morale. A side that has then won two close finals, both times overcoming late deficits.
Most years Prelim weekend throws the form book out and the games are crackers (last year Melbourne just fucking smashed their way through the finals). For Brisbane's sake i hope this happens. The first GF back in Melbourne for a couple of years being Sydney v Brisbane would be pretty funny.

Can Essington please do as they appear likely to, and hire James Hird back? A shit coach with a dirty black mark beside his name who last coached properly in 2013. And whose record is awful without Bomber Thompson telling him what to do.

This smacks of a couple of things - is the club inviting him to go through the process just so he can lose and try and put this thing to bed (well at least until the next guy fails), or do they think that 9 years in the wilderness is enough for the favourite son to now come back. And if he had even the slightest bit of success it will be played as one of the “great redemption stories” of this generation.
Bad PR around Essendon, long may it continue.
Just on that period, I think Bomber Thompson was the biggest problem. He bought the Weapon with him and obviously had his own demons that he had kept masked (from the public but not footy insiders), which was ultimately impacting his judgment on things.
