Game was fitting of a draw. Well played both teams, congratulations to Napier Boys who go through.
I was impressed by the talent in this game, hopefully the Hurricanes can keep some of these players. Guys like Seneli and Brown were instrumental for their respective sides.

@Higgins Surely @Nepia prefers a Hawke's Bay school to win over a Welly school?
A draw if perfect result for me. But I would have been genuinely angry if Napier let a Wellington team go through for the Canes (despite the rigging of the draw).
What was the refs name ?
-
Glad Napier Boys didn't pay the price for the ref mistakenly giving a crucial penalty in the first half to Stream, right on Stream's try line. That was a huge scoring oppotunity that was taken away from Napier.
A draw was the right outcome for the game, but Napier Boys' winning the Hurricanes Cup and going through to the Top 4 was also the right outcome. I have no doubt that Napier Boys' have the better team, although Silverstream definitely have some very good players.

@Nepia I forgot his first name. Last name was Harris.
Phew, not him.

How many times in recent years has it been not Napier/Hastings going through to the Top 4?
-
@Magpie_in_aus The last time a Wellington school made the Top 4 was in 2015, when Scots College finished second. Since then, it's been Hastings Boys' in 2016 (runners-up), 2017 (winners), 2019 (winners) and Napier Boys in 2018 (runners up) and now in 2022.
Must say I don't expect this Napier Boys' team to make the final, but stranger things have happened.

Just had a look, forgot about when Scots purchased a team for a couple of years.
Last 21 tops 4s including this years.
Gizzy boys: 4 times
Palmy: 1
HB team: 12
Wellington: 4 -
@Stargazer Bear in mind that Adam Julian is an old boy of Silverstream (if he is not then I am a bad reader of body language!) and although he is normally accurate and fair with his reports you can pick up little bits and pieces where those in the know can see his pleasure, without making it too obvious or going overboard, when Silverstream do something that pleases him!
The Wellington based and centred clubrugby.co.nz website is run by a bunch of rugby loving volunteers (of which Adam is a big part) and fill a huge void in the publicity given to rugby that used to be in the newspapers and radios but not there anymore. For that we are very grateful as we would be completely unaware that Wainuiomata HS might be playing St. Marys Development in a schoolgirls rugby match on a wet and wintry Wednesday night much less the score and usually a report of what happened if not for the efforts of Adam and his ilk.Adam is also sort of heavily involved in the radio commentary of a club game that is carried on one of the Wellington stations every Saturday.

@Higgins Adam Julian now also writes many articles for the allblacks.com website. He has also done a magnificent job by researching all past and present Black Ferns, and writing their profiles for that website, similar to those written for all All Blacks.

I honestly don't know what to expect from this game.
Westlake unbeaten in the Harbour 1A comp, but losing most of their other matches.
Napier Boys, good but mixed results in the Super 8, but pretty dominant in other games.
At the beginning of the season, I said that they'd go further than Hasting Boys, but I didn't see them as a champions team.
The first bit proved to be correct; I hope to be wrong about the second.
