2022 RWC Sevens

It means that we now know the full 40-team line-up for RWC Sevens 2022, which will kick-off in less than two months’ time.
The 24 teams to qualify for the men’s tournament are South Africa, Argentina, England, Fiji, France, New Zealand, Scotland, USA, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Hong Kong, Korea, Australia, Samoa, Tonga, Chile, Uruguay, Canada, Jamaica, Germany, Ireland, Portugal and Wales.
Following the weekend’s action in Bucharest, the 16 teams that will compete in the women’s tournament are South Africa, Australia, France, New Zealand, USA, Madagascar, Japan, China, Fiji, Brazil, Colombia, Canada, England, Ireland, Poland and Spain. -

The Rugby World Cup Sevens is played in a knockout format, with both teams just playing one must-win match in a bid to advance to the quarter-finals. A total of 24 men’s teams and 16 women's teams will take the field at Cape Town Stadium.

Both All Blacks Sevens and Black Ferns Sevens will be defending their RWC7s titles won in San Fransisco in 2018 and Russia in 2013.

The All Blacks Sevens also won the RWC7s title in 2001.

Kurt Baker, Kelly Brazier, Sarah Hirini and Portia Woodman will be playing in their third RWC7s tournament. 10 players across the two squads will be running out at their second RWC7s.

Goodness eight players injured and unavailable is about a third of the mens squad. Just as well they have only played in five tournaments since 8 March 2020 otherwise they might have to be dredging players up from Scots College if injuries hade continued at the same rate over their usual schedule.

For the life of me I cannot understand how he keeps making the AB 7's side.As @Crucial said above, Tyla Nathan Wong is a huge loss to the Black Ferns.
The AB 7's in good form after winning the Los Angeles tourney and the Black Ferns are well, the Black Ferns and will always be there at the pointy end of any tournament. Given the recent shite with the AB's and Foster, over the past few years my favourite team to watch is the Black Ferns, in either 15's or 7's
C'mon the AB 7's and Black Fern 7's, let's go and get these trophies!!!
