Well done NZR-how long before Scott Robertson is off overseas? I'm guessing an announcement by October.
Deep sigh. The NZR should have a high performance coach exporting position because that seems to be their main achievement. Seems these days to be a head coach one should do as little coaching as possible.

Why? He's signed up until end of 2024, he was always planning on getting the job after this coming RWC. Nothing has changed

@nostrildamus isnt he signed on for super next year?

What NZR need to be doing is put the feelers out to possible coaches now to come on board post 2023 RWC, rather than wait until after the RWC and all the other nations have sorted thier shit out and snaffled our good coaches

Quite nice to see Mark Robinson and a Board member facing some heat.

With a release clause and was it not last month he said he was open to overseas offers?

Nienaber defended his selections, although he would give no reasons for why he made them.

“There’s always a reason – a rugby reason why we did that, but that’s privileged,” said Nienaber after the game.

“The players all know [the reason]. Every single player knows why we went that route and there’s a very logical reason why we did that.”

I'm not sure how this particular decision will put off Razor - I would think he would much rather take over after a RWC than now.

so what happens if we lose the Bledisloe and then a couple on the EOYT?

We’ll take the learnings of course.

The release clause is at the end of 2023, ie he didn't get the ABs job 2024 on. If he's not ABs fish 2024, he'll be head coach for some other nation, totally. But he won't go until then, as nothing has changed from when he signed his extension

@nostrildamus Not sure about that. After he didn't get the gig - what was it? two? - years ago, Robertson re-signed with NZR until the end of 2024, with an outclause after 2023 in case he didn't get the gig after the 2023 RWC. That may still happen. The only thing is, they should set that process in motion soon, to prevent a repeat of the shambles of 2019.

Ok you are all probably right I am just still upset our worst coach in recent memory gets the best coaches to help him fall over the line.
    Doesn't seem a merit-based decision to me.

I don't know. If England comes up with a much larger offer then Razor could very well be lost. Contracts are easily broken these days. The time to secure him was now and they stuffed it up. Looks like player power won out in the end.

Not good listening to Fozzie to be honest. His perspective doesn't inspire confidence. Examples, we shouldn't expect to win all games against teams ranked higher than the ABs, NZ public only angry because of the series loss to Ireland....etc, etc. They are all saying "learnings" and "tweaks" for good sakes😠

Someone should ask Foster and the other 2 clowns what happens if they still continue to lose?

Foster just confirmed he's not expecting to make any changes to his coaching team at this stage.

@Old-Samurai-Jack although if we get back to #1 ranking, we can expect to win them all, surely 😉

@Stargazer yeah he just said him, Ryan, Schmidt and Stormy are getting together tomorrow to start planning for attack, defence etc....

@nostrildamus Foster asked Schmidt initially but he (Joe) wanted to step away from coaching then.

That’s an amazing statement. The only reason they’re ranked higher than the ABs is that we don’t beat them! It’s a self fulfilling argument.

Yep NZR had approached Schmidt as soon as finished with Ireland and as you say he wanted a break. Hansen talked about it in his book.
