Frankly found her unlikeable, exemplified by the US Open final v Osaka.
Horrible persona in my judgement. But one hell of a tennis player.
Yeah, that's my view as well. No doubting her ability but I was never a fan. I preferred watching Graf in her prime. Oh, and especially Sabatini.

Anna Kounikova and Maria Sharapova were very good tennis players

She's spouting that if she was a bloke she could still be playing
Fuck off
As in men are allowed to compete for longer, or that her genes are discriminating against her?

Men are allowed to compete for longer because they don't have to change nappies
Nah
She's got enough money to have Mary Poppins as her nanny ffs

She can have a chat with her husband, no? Get him to take the slack? She chose to have a child I believe. It wasn't forced on her. She could have just played tennis. Sometimes you have choices to make in life.

These rules are discriminatory though eh. She should write a strongly worded letter asking them to change that one.

No, but women have such a thing as a biological clock and postponing pregnancy beyond the age of 35 years has its risks. Agree about the husband and nanny comments.

It is true, but it is still a choice for most women in the western world to have children. Serena would have decided to keep the baby when she found out she was pregnant. If she wanted to be close to the baby once born, she had the means to do that if that was more important to her than playing tennis.
Her comments about not being able to play longer just smacks of excuse making because she is unable to deal with her decline. She has the means to have a team of nannies on hand 24/7 to allow her to focus 100% on her tennis and fitness. If she is choosing not to focus, then that is a tell that she has other priorities now. No shame in that.
Unfortunately, being a hands on parent and being an elite sports person is very difficult, especially if you are ageing as well. If Serena is not coping with this, she might want to look closer to home rather than blaming the patriarchy āŗļø

Just a wee thought further to my earlier comment...
I can't think of any tennis player less likeable. And that includes Sharapova and Kyrgios.

FFS there's some mountains out of molehills being made here. She's just stating facts. She's not blaming men for anything. For a women to have a child it takes them out of the sport for a time and it's likely the changes to the body will impact sports performance. Also it's a couple of lines in a long article that I only read because of posters on rugby forums complaining about it. The first part of the article was quite interesting - the businessy stuff at the end less so.
I've never been a Serena fan, Sabatini and Hingis were always my favourites (maybe not so much for tennis ability if I'm being honest).

Well she'd have been pregnant less often.
