Still bronze behind Liz and Salma though
Cut you. Slice you like a hog.
Look at it this way. If she walks into a pub when we’re having a beer I’ll let you have first hoon cos I’ll be busy hitting on Liz and Salma.
Deal.

Ana De Armas is overrated.
Mods, insta ban!
I’m not saying she’s not hot but she’s not Salma**/Liz Hurley** level.
I do not understand this forum's obsession with Liz (not saying she's not attractive but this place is like young girls with Harry Styles when it comes to her). The hot chicks thread is just a Liz and the odd pic of the (as someone put it) plastic golfer these days.
Have no qualms with Salma's mention though.

Probably cos she’s exceptionally hot particularly for her age.

Re-watched Dune recently and wasn't happy with it after reading the book for the first time in decades.
This captures my feelings and is mor entertaining than my incoherent ramblings:

Yeah - I re-watched it a couple of weeks back....
- It's just showing off lots of big pretty scenes, with a bare minimum of "plot" to move between them
As that sometimes-amusing-but-usually-irritating video says... sci-fi flavoured art-house scenes.
Or - a collection of Dune-themed fan-art, with fucktons of money thrown at it. - And the fucking dream-sequences... jesus... I get the point that his being a prophet is rather critical and all, but the constant perfume-ads (spot-on, annoying puppet) - could do the trick. And the dream-battle... should have had text on it stating "Dune Part 2 - coming soon"... it was just a blatant ad/teaser - saying "the next movie will have heaps more stuff going on"
- And fully agree on the climax. A knife-fight with a nobody we've never seen before. No arc to get there. Just.... who cares?

Instead of making John Wick 4, they should instead make Atomic Blonde 2

Death on the Nile
Fun movie. Based on the Agatha Christie, directed and starring Kenneth Branagh. Has an ensemble cast including Gal Gadot and Emma Mackey.
The movie plot and acting are all fine, but it is a sumptuously shot film. Catches the eye, with some seriously impressive cinematography. Well worth a look if you have a good TV setup. Much better than the Orient Express original (that we watched last night)

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent
- As it's been sold, as it says on the tin - Advert for Nicholas Cage
- Titwatch: zero
- I'd expected much more self-mockery
- In actuality - much more self-advertisement
- To be fair - I do now want to re-watch Con Air, Face-Off, and maybe some other Nic Cage fare
I guess it did its job - Stupid fun, with plenty of "winks" to the Cage - but like I said above - not as many self-derogatory ones as I'd expected/hoped for.
Even the imaginary "alter-ego" appearing at times was fucking tame compared to the "over-the-top Nicholas Cage" montages I assume you'd find on the youtube... and at first, I assumed that's where they'd bring that in to play
Overall, maybe... 3.3 semi-predictable plots out of 5 "this wasn't Being John Malkovich"'s.
I feel like I've backed myself into a corner giving the terrible Fisful of Vengeance a too-high rating. -
This looks fun in a silly kind of way
-
@antipodean Yep, it is fun in a silly kind of way. It's kind of 50% Tarantino and 50% Ritchie, which probably accounts for the kicking it's getting from some critics. But I enjoyed it.
I also watch Prey on Disney+ on the weekend. I enjoyed that too, probably the 2nd best Predator movie.

Be warned, Ahnuld is a girl in this version.
I was comparing it to 2 and the two recent Predators, not the mash ups, I don't think I've
seen those. -

Should still be a good after work/school flick I imagine.

IMO Prey is the best of the recent Predator movies, by quite some distance. But the CGI is comically bad.

Possibly a topic for another thread but shit “real” SFX are still so much better than shit CGI in my opinion.
Take the original Thing some of the SFX are pretty shite even for the early 80s but it’s still a fucken classic.

Yeah, I'd go models and puppets on string over shit CGI.

Maybe the budget for CGI was dropped when they decided it was straight to streamer rather than a cinema release?
Although I thought they were doing the invisibility effect to match the original while watching.
