Good wallriding skills by the Canadian. His wall dismount wasn't as awesome, sadly.
THe Ozzie (?) guy n his back looks like he's just seen a mouse

@WillieTheWaiter I would like to know what the guy third from the left smoked earlier, everyone in clear state of panic and he has barely flinched
Old mate on the second right in the red t shirt is putting up the T Rex arms in utter terror. What a contrast of emotions.

Love the little ginger girl. Brilliant shot

Watched a bit of the 3x3 Bball.
In the Men’s we lost to England and Oz, but did beat Trinidad & Tobago.
We go through to the QF against Canada tonight.
Our 4 are all in the NZBL. I only recognised two of the players - Kelman-Poto and Tai Wynyard because they were both Breakers development players at one point.
For the Women we qualified straight to the semi’s by beating England in a close one pointer, then beating Canada and Virgin Islands easy. We await the winner of England and Kenya.
I like our womens team - Kelani Purcell is a gun in 3-on-3, the veteran Jilian Harmon who has been around the national team for a while, Tiarna Clarke who can shoot lights out, and Ella Fotu from the Fotu clan of ballers.
-
@ACT-Crusader Wynyard got recruited by University of Kentucky, which should have been huge for him - but, something really weird went down there - supposedly had an armed bodyguard.
You probably know all this.
-
@Chris-B yeah, there was high hopes for Tai but a mix of injuries and not fitting in the rotation - then the off-court stuff (more to that than has been reported) made his time at Kentucky a bit of a disaster.
Was good to see him in action as I don’t get to see much NZBL other than some YouTube clips.
-
@ACT-Crusader This article was from a few months back. More about his redemption than what happened in Kentucky, but worth a read.

@Crucial Really hope she gets her medal, hopefully there is some kind of appeal. New Zealand now have 10 Gold and are Number 3, only being edged out by England with one more Gold. New Zealand did pretty well in the pool last night, must have given the Aussies a run for their money, really good effort by our swimmers. Have a good feeling we might overtake our previous best tally of 17 Gold and hoping we can overtake England,
With event inflation. Would actually need 22.35 golds to
beatout-perform Auckland 1990 effort.280 events, compared to 213 in 1990.

So, eventually negotiated my way through 7+ and found replays of Corbin Strong, Bryony Botha and Ellesse Andrew's.
Glad did. Awesome watches.
Cycling is such a strange sport ...
I found the scratch race difficult to follow. They should have a graphic of the leaderboard during the race.
Can I say that Sky's scheduling has been a little bit shit? I tried to save some highlights packages early this morning only to find something else on. Makes me long for on demand Spark service. At least I get to see what I want to see

Seeing as if we're in whinge mode...
The 7+ app has Pommie commentators (though admittedly Aussie chicks colour comes, one of which seems to be Anna Mears, who despite myself I respect massively
) so the cycling commentary I've followed is all about how Team GB can possibly win gold ... or maybe Scotland... or perhaps Wales ....I'm assuming this is the generic, "World Feed " commentary,so would expect to them to be impartial.
But it seems not ...
-
@booboo We are getting the same cycling commentators as you. It appears to be an English guy, a Scottish woman and the Aussie woman (Rochelle IIRC?).
Anyway, Ellesse Andrews and Aaron Gate win their 3rd gold medals. And Andrew Jeffcoat wins gold in the men's 50m backstroke final.

Good to see we are winning a few swimming golds. Usually the aussies snaffle them all
-
@canefan 13 Gold still on course to beat our previous best whether that be 17 or 22 according to event inflation. Hopefully hold 3rd, England appear to have won a big haul. It is showing that New Zealand is a pretty well rounded sporting nation.

Not sure if it is 'World Feed'
BBC has Chris Hoy leading the cycling but 7 has Phil Liggett -

The cyclists have kicked ass this time. Lots of youngsters in there too so hope for the future and Paris in 2 years

I don't want to be negative but with CG you can find that some countries place more emphasis in their long term programs than others.
I hope this isn't the case but it wouldn't surprise me if say, Australia, had a longer term target in the cycling such as the next Olympics and this is just a tester along the way.
NZ seem to have really targeted success here and are reaping the rewards. -
@Crucial A number of sports where we are traditionally very strong like rowing, kayaking and various sailing events are not in the Commonwealth Games. Given that Australia are incredibly strong at swimming and probably close to the top nation in the Olympics, New Zealand have done really well in the pool. I think New Zealand is becoming a more well rounded sporting nation, if you look at our performances in Tokyo, the Winter Olympics and now the Commonwealth games.
