Lomax was there for the unavailable Ta'avao (for test 1).

With Angus Ta’avao, Brodie Retallick and Jack Goodhue making their way back from suspension and injury, the All Blacks selectors have called in temporary cover. Braydon Ennor, Tyrel Lomax and the uncapped Josh Dickson will join the squad for the South African leg of the tournament.

Bower now is the senior prop with 9 test starts.

I still don't understand the appeal of Ennor. Maybe I was watching the wrong AB games.

I wonder if Jason Ryan had any input into Newell being called up.

Who was the TH option if not Newell?

    Jaeger?

Thats the only other one I could think of who would have been considered.

Kinda serious question... who are the other THs in Super Rugby?

    Marcel Reneta
    Sione Mafileo,
    Atunaisa Moli
    Tevita Mafileo,
    Alex Fidow,
    Oli Jager,
    Tamaiti Williams
    Jermaine Ainsley
    Jeff Thwaites
    Saula Ma’u

Owen Franks confirms All Blacks aspirations ahead of injury-delayed Hurricanes debut

Three years after he was dropped from New Zealand's 2019 World Cup squad, Owen Franks wants to play for the All Blacks again.

Well we don't seem to have the most mobile tightheads in the world, so cometh the moment, cometh the Owen..

He'll hit lots of rucks rather than stand next to them.

Greg Dyer maybe been the next best this season, but based on not much evidence.

Do you mean George, not that cheating Aussie wk?

He'll be the first-choice Waikato TH and should be Ta'avao's backup at the Chiefs from next season.

First thing I saw. Would be pretty tone deaf for your parents to name you after that cheating bastard. A quick wiki says Dyer was born 3 years after Dyer's last international game. So his folks would know who Dyer the Liar was

I want to see naked aggression. I want someone to throw a dig.

Climb into Etzebeth at the first sign of him opening his gob.

Fold him like hot fucking laundry.

as a man of a certain age, i heartily endorse this post

    however

with that big fuck-off Class Action against rugby now a real thing, i would imagine the direction has gone out from the top level that anything even looking like it might hurt someone in the head is now punishable by firing squad

so i do no believe next weekend is the time to be bashing blokes.

Someone should be in to Scott Barrett right fucking now.

its tongue in cheek but you get me. at the first sign of trouble all 15 off them should pile in. The ref won't do anything then.

Cane was mugged off by O'Mahoney and the likes of that shouldn't happen again sans retribution.

    ahaha. that's classic.

Agreed though mate. We are too soft.

We need the no dickheads policy to be relaxed.

The team is short a couple of toe rags.

i really wanted to do a "if you are the selector pick your team for next week" but in all honestly, who we pick matters much less than how we ask them to play. If we turn up with the same shape and the same plan then i can't see anyone in the squad improving on the last 23 picked (aside from the enforced)

Yep there are bits and pieces that can be improved in the 23, Samisoni in, cane out etc. But really the problem is coaching, lack of shape and ideas, much more than selection
