@antipodean ...i thought i might have been missing something but thought much the same myself, also relies on several missed tackles, make the first one and that dies real quick....hardly a move putting someone in space without a hand laid on them

lol that's not a backline move, that's the exact thing our defense hopes for now. RI draws no one on his run at all. BB beats a piss weak tackle, and for some reason the Bok loosies are napping and corner-flagging. After that it's all support play.

Nice, instinctive try to take advantage of a lapse. But i could see us running that exact play in the last 3 weeks, and BB getting fucking smoked by an Irish loosie and the whole play breaking down.

Good quality lineout ball made that a lot easier.

@mariner4life agreed, but also we seldom had the ball humming at that speed during most of the Irish tests.

That was just absolutely brilliant from Beauden, then good support play after that. As @mariner4life said winning a lineout and chucking it to Beauden isn't a backline move, there's no real deception going on, he just spotted a gap and exploited it with pace and fend. The Irish didn't give him space like that to move and our attack was easily shut down.

Akira looked a lot slimmer there taking the linout ... clearly black suits him 😃

@nzzp and a good lineout option. He should be used.

I think he was the number one lineout target in one of the Tests last year? Blackadder was in a Test around the same time too

Taylors throwing accuracy has made hitting the back of the lintout difficult this year. I think they've given up on throwing long relatively early

@Duluth Taylor threw one to him at the back early in the last test - sailed way over the lineout and was grabbed by Ireland. Think we were in or near their 22 at the time.

@Tim There was a throw that was short of the target that got picked off too. He really needs to be dropped

Good for Newell but I doubt they'll trust him to be on the bench in the 1st test. So Lomax it is.

Nepo isn't travelling to Africa and Ta'avao is out one more match at least isn't he?

So Lomax to start Newell on the bench?

I wonder if Jason Ryan had any input into Newell being called up.

@KiwiMurph I hadn't realised Laulala wasn't touring either, as that wasn't mentioned when the squad was announced.

A big risk to only have 2 THs in the squad if one gets injured late. Using Bower would mean both de Groot and Ross would be in the 23. Feek and Ryan will earn their money that week.

Yep mate it was announced when team named, thats why Lomax was named, same as Dickson and Ennor.
