I've been there too so I am familiar with the area. Same for Marseilles. No issues with a rugby crowd though.

This already exists in Russia basically 5 on 5 MMA of football hooligans. Its possibly the worst thing I have ever seen try to be passed off as entertainment. It seems okayish until one guy gets knocked out then its 5 on 4 and the 4 have no chance until its just 1 guy getting kerb stomped by 5 other dudes.

Russia apparently on a suspended sentence of disqualification - any further bovver inside the stadium (the extent of UEFA's remit) and the suspension will be lifted. Does UEFA have the balls? And will that threat do anything to stop things kicking off away from the stadium? Seems unlikely. I'm pretty sure Lille will be a war zone before the weekend. 
Anyone else see this issue as just another arm of Putin's destabilising "hybrid conflict" with the West? First it's little green men in the Crimea, then it's "weaponising" the refugee flows to the EU by bombing all and sundry in Syria, now it's encouraging Russia's disaffected yoot to defend the motherland's "honour" at the Euros. All against the background of a constant stream of brazen alternative reality reporting of these issues via glossy state controlled multimedia outlets. What a world.

The way things are going, the Russian hatrick could be on: 
Thrown out the Euros 
Banned from Olympics 
Disqualified from hosting World Cup 
That would be some achievement, but of course various organisations will bottle it. Shame really, a nation being banned from the tournament it is supposed to be hosting would be a fitting end to Blatter era FIFA.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a bit of this Russian rubbish as a little state sanctioned, Russia is a bit fucking weird. 
 
Apparently it kicked off in Lille again over night. 
 
Russia absolutely need to be kicked out, and not just for in the stadium rubbish as well. No organisation has the sack to do it though. 
 
If the Russians and the Poles meet at any point, it would be best for the locals if they just left the city

Big problems in Lille again, this time the English hooligans causing havoc. Damn, I so hope that we'll never see this trouble surrounding rugby games! It's just awful.

Great win for Norn Iron yesterday, but sadly another fan died. I doubt anyone keeps stats on fan mortality rates at major tournaments (actually, I don't doubt that), but relative to the size of NI's population/fanbase, two travelling fans dead for one country in the first week must be some kind of ghoulish record.

Aye, no way am I cheering for Russia or Slovakia over the Welsh. I had Bale at 6/1 for first scorer yesterday, and he didn't let me down. With Hart's knack for high profile fails (in my view, at least), 6/1 was too good an opportunity to miss.

Hart is a goalkeeper in the best traditions of english blunders between the sticks. David Seaman would have been proud. As for Russia they are a miserable country filled with miserable people aren't they? Mrs CF has a work colleague who is Russian but moved to NZ when she was very young, she farken hates them

If the only stories you've read about Euro 2016 this week were about the violence between England and Russia fans, you'd think France was a pretty unsafe place to be right now.
Luckily, the Irish fans are showing what major football tournaments are all about.
Decked out in all green, the Irish supporters have been winning over people everywhere they've been so far.
Their deeds during the European Championships so far include changing the tyre for an elderly French couple, singing Westlife and ABBA and some of the funniest football chants you've heard.
For example, the Irish were chanting "Go home to your sexy wives" to their Swedish counterparts before the clash in Saint Denis outside Paris.
While Russian and English fans pelted French police with bottles and trashed bars and restaurants, the Green Army was actually cleaning up after itself.

The fan sang "clean up for the boys in green" as they picked up trash from the area in Bordeaux they had been drinking.
A cyclist was also given a helping hand through a huge crowd of supporters.
The Green Army also paid tribute to Northern Ireland supporter Darren Rodgers, who died in Nice after a fall, the Guardian reports.
In the 24th minute of the game against Sweden, the fan chanted "Stand up for the Ulsterman" in his memory.

		&nbsp;<p>Of course, the Martin O'Neill coached team is going pretty well on the field as well, playing some great football in its opening 1-all draw against Sweden at Stade de France.</p>
<p>Next up Ireland face Belgium in Bordeaux and then Italy in Villeneuve-d'Ascq - so it's not going to get any easier on the pitch.</p>
<p>Let's hope their fans can continue to provide more colourful moments like these off the pitch.</p>

Normally like the euros as much as the World Cup but not got into it this year yet with 24 teams to be whittled down by just 8 in the pool stages. 
Also hadn't followed the qualifiers as it seemed it would be almost impossible to not qualify. But now realising Holland, by their absence, must have managed just that. 
Plus Scotland. Gee, they've fallen off the sporting cliff the last 20 to 25 years.
