Very pleased with this outcome. The basis of the appeal was nonsensical - and the Spanish had been warned before. I have been peripherally involved in some of the eligibility sagas previously and am pleased World Rugby kept to the precedents that others have been ruled on and punished by. Romania suffered badly last time, so I am pleased they now have an opportunity to appear.

My hunch is that it would probably make the final repechage tournament a little less interesting, though.
Would think USA clear favourite for that, probably at expense of Portugal who I would think would have been favourites even over Chile?
But, well this was an upset, so who knows ...

Wow. What a 2 legged tie that was.
Well done Chile!
Chile will probably get smashed in each and every game at the RWC, but just qualifying already means the world to up-and-coming tier 3 teams and what an experience it will be, playing against some of the best teams in the world!
Argentina is probably the only country in this pool they've ever played against and most likely it was an Argentina XV, not the Pumas.

I'm stoked to see them there, it's always great when a first time qualifier makes it.
They probably will get battered, but it'll still be a massive boost for them. Hopefully the squad will get funding for proper training camps and preparation matches etc. And should be massive for the profile of rugby in Chile

That is what happens these days. The lower T2 nation get pretty good funding, fixtures, camps etc in that world cup year paid and arranged by WR.
The operational side of WR is actually quite good and competent. It's the politics and refereering administration where it gets dire.

Hopefully I won't have to get shitty Spark Sport for this version, tho if Foster's still in charge, am I going to watch?

@gibbon-rib really looking forward to the Uruguay Namibia and Chile Samoa games.
