I actually be at div 3 rugby tomorrow, it's Crowley cup day in the Naki. Crowley cup is played between Kaponga ans Okiawa, couple of div2/3 clubs, and Crowleys (Kieran etc)played for both clubs. Been quite intersting as I been watching Kaponga a bit this year (actually joined as member etc) and notice that the Div 3 clubs seem to be getting more players etc. Kaponga last year standing on sideline and looking like you could walk the coch would suggest you may like a game (slight exageration but not much), this year they started with about 35 players at training and games , lost a few because of no game time and injuries etc, but bloody good to see. I ws talking to coachs of another team in grade, said they had good numbers as players form some prem clubs who don't want all the gym work etc of prem rugby are wandering back to these country clubs where you just tarin once or twice a week and play. Good to see it's proper grassroots rugby.

My home district club Onewhero won the Counties U85 competition for the very first time. It was the only senior team this year as they struggled to get players for a premier/senior team. This team is more local than the premier team was with most players out of Onewhero or Tuakau schools or living locally and lots of sons and grandsons of club legends. The little fullas can sink some piss apparently so it would have been a big night up on the hill. It was played at the stadium in the break between sevens games.

Playoffs starting in Waikato club rugby.
Waikato Draught Breweries Shield Quarter Finals (Kickoff 2.45 pm)
The regular season has come to an end and Fraser Tech will hold onto the Stag trophy for the summer after successfully defending it at home in 2022. They also topped the standings with 39 points and received the Has Catley trophy, on top of home field advantage throughout the playoffs and a bye week for this accomplishment. Tech will host the lowest placed winner next weekend. Hamilton Old Boys finished the regular season second and were awarded with a bye week as well. They successfully defended the Ron Crawford Memorial trophy last weekend and will be able to engrave their name into the trophy for 2022. HOB will host the highest placed winner next weekend.(3) Hamilton Marist v (6) University - Marist Park
(4) Hautapu v (5) Te Awamutu Sports - Memorial Park, Cambridge -

Neat to see TA sports competitive again this seson though.
Did Hautap bring in a bunch of ringers?
TA has spent the money.
Hautapu has been missing a lot of their Waikato players at the backend of the season. No Mitch Jacobson, for example. Thinking ahead to the Waikato season, I hope he is not injured.

THE SEQUEL
A year after North Shore snuck home over Takapuna in a thrilling 2021 decider, the two old foes will square off again in the CMP Construction Premier 1 final.
Takapuna have been the form team all competition and will be riding high after a dominant win over Northcote in the semifinal, while North Shore scraped past Massey in a dramatic encounter to keep their hopes of back-to-back titles alive.
So get along to North Harbour Stadium this Saturday to support the two teams and to see who lifts the trophy.
