Will they get enough picks (up to like 2027 or something mad I think they don't control) to make trading Durant worth it?

If they trade away Kyrie and get someone useful, could they try to force him to stay until they get a good enough deal?

It's interesting to see the Nets dissolve in such a dramatic way.

The so-called 'superteam era' might be dead. Because outside of the bubble Lakers (asterisk season), when has it actually worked?

You could make a case for the KD Warriors, but the foundations of that team were still organic. They just added a superstar on top.

Outside of that, blowing your team up to chase superstars has a near zero per cent success rate. The teams that have thrived? The Bucks. The 19 Raptors. The 22 Celtics. The Suns. All teams whose core came through the draft.

It also helps that the players who have gravitated to 'superteams' tend to be cancerous/weird personalities - Russ, Harden, Kawhi, Kyrie...

    Warriors clean out?

Seems Porter Jr and Payton II both gone?

Time for GP2 to get paid. He was on the minimum this season and has spent most of his career on two-way contracts.

Would’ve been a massive step to match what was coming in for him, plus pay the luxury tax required to match, when they have the sort of books they currently have.

At the start of the season he had offered to be with the team as the video guy. So his ship has really come in and good on him to cash in

Also Damion Lee (Steph’s bro in-law) is gone too. Signed with the Suns. Lee has a decent shot but in a team with Steph, Klay, Poole - there’s not many shots to go around for another shooting type 2 guard.

Joe Ingles who was here in Melbourne watching the Boomers play China has joined the Milwaukee Bucks.

the NBA is so good at staying relevant

It's what, 3 weeks since Golden State won? A pretty big story in itself, throw in a Steph MVP and it was huge. I feel like that is almost forgotten already!

The Nets blow up and it's fucking all on.
An interesting tweet from Jeannie Buss yesterday and it's rumours in Laker Land

    The soap opera never stops.

The Warriors - KD rumours seemed to be shut down pretty quickly after getting an early run.

One analyst has put together a package that sees both KD and Kyrie end up in Phoenix. It doesn’t include Booker either.

Why would KD want to go with KI? If he wants to play with him he can do it in BKLN. If he wants to leave because he is butthurt with the way they dealt with Kyrie I'm not sure I want to blow up my team for that

@gt12 yeah I watched that live from Windy after the Royce O’Neal trade.

The question now is will Mitchell end up at the Knicks.

@canefan they don't want to play for the Nets.

Bit of a bitch move by Durant after they stood by him during his rehab. That's the danger of putting your trust in a superstar mercenary. Sean should have stuck to building in the draft

nah every GM in the league makes that play if it's available.
It's gone very wrong (unless they get a good return) but a few very specific things had to happen for it to blow up.

And, lets not forget, they were a KD toe from knocking the Bucks out last year.

@canefan likewise the Nets shouldn’t have agreed to a deal that allowed KD to hitch his fate at the team to what Kyrie does.

Nets wanted their guy (KD) and got him - but with a massive risk attached.

Of course hindsight is a wonderful thing. And no one will blame Marks for making that deal. We'll see what the market is like for Irving now. LBJ might be the only guy who can keep him straight. KD certainly couldn't

They have nothing valuable to trade. Unless the Nets want Westbrick....

Not a bad synopsis of things

Lakers would have AD, LBJ, Kyrie, and a bunch of guys playing on the veterans minimum. Which they might as well do because they are screwed in the draft for a few years

How much of a fluffybunny do you have to be that a team would take Westbrick and that contract over you?
