Ofa, Scott at 6 , LF, QT, the bench.... Have they revealed a game plan of trying to go through the Irish?
If that is the idea, wouldn't Vaai at 6 seem a better option?

Not to mention Taukei'aho would be better starting if that was the plan. In fact, I imagine most plans would work better with him starting

There’s a good core of experience in there - Taylor, Ofa, 2 locks, 3 Barrett’s, Cane, Ardie, Smith, Rieko - and I would say a fair amount of hunger to avenge for last years loss - in this starting lineup.

No doubt some forced changes, but what a test for LF and PGS to make a debut in! Congrats to them and I’m looking forward to seeing what they can do.

@Duluth mentioned that 2012 Ireland tour and the names that made their debut in those tests - eg Retallick, Smith, etc - and they are still here and have had amazing careers. You never know eh.

    your cheerful optimism sickens me

You go join the big argument about who the injury cover prop is then… 🙄

    😀

one fat guy looks like another fat guy to me. My interest starts at the number 4 (and the 2 when he is throwing lineouts)

Forwards balance looks all wrong to me.. Hope one of the locks don't go down early while SB is in the bin...

Savea starting... I feel his best days at test level are behind him.. Good high energy impact in 2nd 40 who can cover loose fwds positions is his strength IMO...(he'll probably have a blinder now)

    Surprised at SB at 6....

Is AI paying the price for the SR final perhaps (I know he had good stats... But still lacked impact) but I would have started him.. As he rarely goes quiet two games running..

It's almost like a win is bad for the ABs as it may imply Fossie knows what's doing 😳

Yay S Barrett at blindside 🙄

Does RTS have covid? If not why the flying f*** is Ennor on the bench ahead of him?
And don’t even think about giving me the ‘experience’ BS.

this is the thing that really bugged me with the highlanders this year, guys coming in as "injury" cover...and making the 23, if they're leapfrogging others then you have to wonder if the squad was right to start with

Akira’s foot injury has flared up a bit so they are giving him more time to recover

    god i hate this

what experience? he's played what? 3 games? against who? and done what?

I get why he's there, because every other 13 in the country is dead. well, the two that the selectors can see anyway. But LF is arguably a better centre anyway.

On paper other than some balance issues in forwards and obvious COVID disruption it looks good. Challenge is AB's are always most vulnerable in the 1st Test of the June series for variety of reasons - combinations, some players haven't played since Super semi-finals etc. I'm expecting AB's to win but I suspect it'll be close and messy.

OK makes sense now. Akira's foot has got to be a worry. He missed the run up to Super Finals with it too. Looks like it'll be an issue that needs to be managed in terms of his workload etc.

That might be the most positive post on this thread today. Hmm, maybe Grace shot himself in the foot by figuring out his whakapapa, he could have been whisked in Ennor style to the starting lineup if he didn't play last night.

@Nepia Well, they moved Lomax from the MABs to the ABs, so they could do the same with Grace.

Lomax is in as squad cover though right? Not starting?

Listening to Foster, Scott Barrett maybe a permeant no.6 option. In his words "We see it as not just a stop gap option."
