@JK I'd ignore his losses to Dave Allen and Paul Gallen - both blatant dives in those fights. Browne still carries that one punch power and Fa has always been vulnerable to the overhand right.

One punch power but also some pretty shitty ring craft and technique. And don’t get me started on the fitness.

But yeah one punch is all it takes. And it got him alright

    Just saw this

    Jun 4, 2022

Junior Fa's team to appeal KO result due to 'illegal' punches

Junior Fa's team to appeal KO result due to 'illegal' punches

Kiwi heavyweight's lawyer will file complaint after claims his opponent Lucas Browne twice hit Fa on the back of the head.

That’s why Max Baer, Earnie Shavers and Deontay Wilder went ok.

Fa doesn’t look that durable judging from that vid though.

@JK Which will go nowhere. Fa's finished, may as well sell himself to up and coming prospects if he wants to make some coin from the sport.

@kiwiinmelb how was it? Pretty dull main event I thought, with Haney doing his usual jab and 1-2 throughout the fight and sticking to the gameplan. He does what he does well, but man I find him a boring watch sadly Kambosos had no answer to his jab.

Thought Nyika was also very underwhelming. Will do him some good having a fight like that but shipped way too many shots and still has an amateur style of fighting which won't necessarily succeed in the pros. He needs to fight more often and I seriously hope he isn't going to the Commonwealth games as he is well past that level now. The pro game is almost a different sport altogether compared to aamateur boxing and he needs to fight more in the pros to adjust his style a bit.

It was a great day out even if the main fight was a bit lacklustre.

Devin played it safe sitting behind his superior jab controlling the tempo and distance, and George needed to find a way to close the distance to up the tempo but he looked a bit lost how to do that , when he did do it devin grabbed him .full props for Haney executing his fight plan . Marketing the rematch might be a hard sell.

Yeah the kiwi boys a bit disappointing, I probably didn’t rate fa that highly anyway , but nyika I had hopes for , but seemed a bit trying to impress a bit with all the switch hitting/ showboating but lacking in fundamentals, overall got hit too much. He wouldn’t want to be doing that with the big hitters of the division .

I haven’t seen any replays , all from my seat , up one level , 3 rows back in the main grandstand looking to the centre of the footy ground , probably 50 metres away , spent more time watching the fight on the big screen above the ring than the actual live stuff . And the reality, better view at home in the lounge room .

As a boxing fan , it was spot the boxing celebrities .espn had their media st up directly below us . Plus the walk way to the ringside seats . Tim Bradley, bob arum ( can’t believe he is 90 and still working ) wbc president Mauricio suliaman , haneys girlfriend and team etc , all getting around .

Just good to be at a big boxing event for me. I would go again .

@kiwiinmelb Yeah I have heard others say the same about live boxing in stadiums. Still, glad you enjoyed the experience and it looks like they'll do it again at the end of the year.

Decent read here ( be sure to check out all four ) and a cautionary tale……why do SO many boxers get ripped off by their management team ?

Even casual fight fans should check this out.

The 70s had the big three……Ali, Foreman and Frazier. I have no doubt it was the best era ever in terms of heavyweights…….however there were any number of other guys around the same time who could have been undisputed champs in any other era. Ken Norton, Earnie Shavers, Jimmy Ellis, George Chuvalo, Jimmy Young, Joe Bugner…….and this guy here, Ron Lyle.

This is a fucken slugfest, NO ONE went toe to toe with Foreman and survived but fuck me this guy came close.

Already been a robbery in the Jack v Rivera fight so Usyk better win well if he wants to get anh favors on the scorecards.

@African-Monkey I think Joshua may throw caution to the wind early and and attack first 6 rounds , lots of attempted body shots .

Usyk survives that he should have him on toast

@kiwiinmelb Everyone says that and he needs to do it no doubt, but he hasn't shown any evidence that he knows how to as he doesn't have a very good gas tank and doesn't trust his chin add to that Usyk has some of the best boxing IQ you'll ever see.

Chisora and Briedis gave Usyk a bit of trouble because they're both effective inside pressure fighters that back their chins to hold up in close. If Joshua can pull it off then fair play to him but I'd be shocked if he does.

I think Garcia will install a more aggressive fight plan , and logic says he has to when you look at fight 1,completely outboxed but there was a brief period middle rounds where he had a bit of success with body shots , I think they were the rounds Joshua won on the cards ,

if he isn’t going to outbox usyk but holds an advantage in size and power what options does he have ?

    Can’t die wondering

Improved performance from AJ but end of the day if the fight goes the distance, usyk is still going to outpoint him

Good effort from AJ, he did well, but no way did he win that. Feldmann had a shocker giving it to AJ.

    Had it 116-112 Usyk.
