Whilst there is a lot of criticism of the playoff format (and fair enough) its going to give NZ and Aus players more exposure to knockout rugby leading into RWC.

Wellington and Paraparaumu. They were dark times (well, less in Kapiti).

Unusual considering all the Bogans up that way

Sekope Kepu suspended for 3 weeks

Kepu, who was in his 150th Super Rugby game, was sent off in the first ten minutes for a nasty tackle on Andy Muirhead.

"Having conducted a detailed review of all the available evidence, including all camera angles and additional evidence, including from the player and submissions from his legal representative, Aaron Lloyd, the Foul Play Review Committee upheld the Red Card under Law 9.13," Foul Play Review Committee Chairman Michael Heron QC ruled.

"With respect to sanction the Foul Play Review Committee deemed the act of foul play merited a mid-range entry point of 6 weeks due to the World Rugby instructions that dictate any incident of foul play involving contact with the head and/or neck must start at a mid-range level. T

"Taking into account mitigating factors including the Player's extensive playing career, remorse, and his acceptance of foul play, the Foul Play Review Committee reduced the suspension to 3 weeks.

"The player is therefore suspended for 3 weeks, up to and including 25 June 2022.”

Will he miss any games? For a player who's not going to play test matches and with NPC so far way still, such a suspension means nothing, except having it on your record.

I’m torn between knocking the convict teams out of the comp and disrupting Rennie’s plans for a long camp

@Machpants Not sure if people are into Fantasy Rugby, but thought I'd post it anyway.

Fantasy Rugby XV doesn't mean form XV.

It’s only this format this year isn’t it?
I reckon it’s fair enough this season given the uncertainties and disruption with Covid.
Just think of the quarters as a final round.
Top four should still be the semi finalists

Agree on the Top 3. Quietly confident that the Hurricanes will tip over the Brumbies.

I love the optimism. What is our win loss record in Canberra?

Yes, Love the foolish optimism - even the year Canes won their only title (2016) they lost 56-10 to the Brumbies in Canberra, at Westpac the same season they won 29-8.

It's in Canberra (cold temps & rain predicted) while Brumbies will be motivated to send McKellar out on a high and avenge their poor last 3 matches.

Canes won't win - the Highlanders have a better likelyhood of upsetting the Blues the chances are so remote.

They should all run out in skins and gloves. Try something new to combat the terrible conditions

All three loosies are no 8’s. It looks like they only have a category for ‘back row’ rather than each position
I don’t play fantasy rugby but I assume the points system rewards carry metres well?

OK no idea what that is apart from some, not all, very random picks!

Yup. Loosies are all grouped together in fantasy.

Fantasy tends to reward attacking stats more.

yeah, i used to play one of those, and you don't pick a rugby team, you pick guys who will rack up stats. Aussie locks were gold because they ran in wide channels a lot.

Elliott Smith suggests in this pay-walled article that the Highlanders should go after Damian McKenzie, which isn't a strange idea, considering he's from Gore and the Landers do indeed need someone like him.

Also a good reminder in this article that the Blues were chasing Jordie Barrett before and could go after him again, because his contract expires this year.

Elliott Smith: The one player who can save the Highlanders

Elliott Smith: The one player who can save the Highlanders

Opinion: One man can transform the Highlanders from pretenders to contenders.
