The thing I don't like about the arm/shoulder mitigation is that it's often through the actions of the player being dumped on their head as to whether the tackler is yellow or red carded. Stick your arm out to try and save your neck and the tackler is often given a yellow for what should clearly be a red card.
It's an odd rule really. In big games it arguably creates an incentive for the tackled player to "take one for the team" and try to fall awkwardly.

It looked like the Crusaders played with the handbrakes on. All they needed to do was win. No need for a bonus point.
With the players they were missing, clearly also a spark was missing.
Lots of dry powder, I think.
Yep just enough done to win Taylor,Newell,Mounga.Hall,Reece and Goodhue back next week.
Its finals footy coming up get through to the knockouts with no injuries, pretty much what the Blues are doing playing a B/C team.
This week does not really matter too much its all about the next 3 weeks. -
@Chris-B It wouldn't surprise me at all, if Matera gets cited. Either via the citing commissioner, or because the case is submitted by the Reds. It would help them a lot if he gets suspended. Whether that citing will be successful, no idea. There will be more camera angles than those we have seen.
-
@Stargazer You'll know more about the process than me.
It was clearly dangerous, but also looked reasonably clear that Matera got lucky and the guy landed on his shoulder first, so I thought the referees ruled it consistent with instructions.

Really after Mp v Canes. Not great against the tahs I would not say your team has dominated its way through the Rds.
Only the Playoffs count you don't win the Championship until the final the rest is about doing enough to get there with not many injuries. And keeping you powder dry look back at the last 5 seasons. -
@Chris Are you trying to imply that the Hurricanes non "Playoffs" round robin Hurricanes loss to the MP and less than stellar performances against the Waratahs and Reds "does not really matter"?
Well it should as the loss of those points dropped against MP probably means no home ground playoff advantage and the financial benefits that come with that just for starters. -

Well it should as the loss of those points dropped against MP probably means no home ground playoff advantage and the financial benefits that come with that just for starters. No what I am saying from this weekend on its more about no injuries getting through the weekend and getting the Job done in the playoffs, you cant peak for 16 weeks then a QF,SF and Final. You have to pull back to preserve your squad some where or you are spent before finals time.
-
@Chris You clearly stated that this weeks games does not really matter to which I replied that every competition game my team plays matters to me. Then you threw up three less than disappointing Hurricanes performances back to me as if they should not matter to me because the Hurricanes did not go as well as expected.
Now you are saying

I cannot see where you are saying that in your reply to my post pointing out that all my teams competition games do matter to me.

@Chris Crusaders didn't rest anyone. They looked laboured tonight. They will be facing the Reds again I think they'll win but will do it tough. Playing like that they won't make the Final.
Didn’t rest anyone ??
No Taylor,Mounga,Goodhue,Newell or Hall that’s
5 I see rested/ not playing who would be in the top 23.
So no they did.
