F*ck, that could have been McClutchie's first SR try.
Barnstorming! Not exactly the try you expect him to score.

That maul and run cements my thinking - MP should be looking to sign Thrush and Kahui for next season.
Start with a new forwards coach
How dare you besmirch Pastry.

MP at the moment are a combination of being a skill level behind most other teams (most players are NPC standard) and trying too hard meaning that they force their abilities to breaking point.
It's a hard ask for coaches to rein in the players from trying too much but when they do they can hold their own.
They have had a massively shit first season to deal with games/draw wise as well which has stopped the coaches from implementing any kind of continual growth.
I'd give the coaches a hell of a lot of leeway. The players will be better for the experiences and the work ons exposed.
I don't expect miracles next year either but hopefully we will see improvement in the basics and a better understanding of when to pull the trigger. -
They need better props as I don't see the scrum improving much with their current group. Just where they get them from is the big question.
A lot of MP's problems are around a lack of reliability in their scrum and lineout, so they either concede penalties or possession, and then spend too much time defending.
Listening to Mauger, he is realistic about their first season given the challenges they faced before the season even began.

@Bovidae One of the problems is that Sekope Kepu is the captain and, therefore, starts almost every game. I've noticed in many games that it was his side of the scrum that went down and that there was often an improvement when 'Apikotoa came on. And I'm not really an 'Apikotoa fan, despite him being a Magpie.
Tolai was also very disappointing. Couldn't throw a ball, last night.
