@Gunner said in Māori All Blacks to play Ireland?:

@Thirdil said in Māori All Blacks to play Ireland?:

Others Players to Consider, Jahrome Brown Brumbies, Open side

I see a wee problem with this this guys eligibility....

A good Morrinsville man, but I assume he has signed a RA contract of some sort.

Yes wasn’t he in the Wallabies training camp a few weeks ago when Rennie invited 40 players.

@Bovidae 2010 Maori abs is when I first took real notice of Aaron Smith , I thought geez that lad out of manawatu is going to be a star for the canes! wasn't to be tho as Hammett opted for Tyson Keats

Pretty sure Keats was already picked up by the Canes in 2010 prior to Hammett getting there in 2011.

Given how things played out with Weepu, I think NZ rugby was/is pretty happy with Smith going to the Highlanders given Weepu was already at the Canes and his opportunity came quicker down south.

@ACT-Crusader yeah I remember thinking Smith was pretty cake when he first stepped foot on the scene - probably similar to Christie 2+ years ago.

Howden and Moorby would be a couple good additions. I would also have Delany over Prinsep.

I don’t think Flanders and Morgan are eligible are they?

    Also, Umaga-Jensen is Samoan.

WR have updated their referee appointment list for these games.

    Maori All Blacks v Ireland
    Hamilton, New Zealand
    Wednesday, 29 June, 2022

    Referee: Wayne Barnes (RFU)
Assistant Referee 1: Jordan Way (RA)
Assistant Referee 2: Graham Cooper (RA)
TMO: Marius van der Westhuizen (SARU)

    Maori All Blacks v Ireland
    Wellington, New Zealand
    Tuesday, 12 July, 2022

    Referee: Karl Dickson (RFU)
Assistant Referee 1: Christophe Ridley (RFU)
Assistant Referee 2: Jordan Way (RA)
    TMO: James Leckie (RA)

So using the test referees rather than Aust refs, for example.

So is Bryn Hall going to be the victim of both TJP and Weber not making the ABs, despite Hall having a much better season than TJP?

I assume this squad will be named shortly. They've gained 2 halfbacks and a prop from the ABs, although Lomax was always at long odds to make the ABs. More importantly, that haven't lost a player as a bolter to the ABs.

They also got Norris at prop too.

@Dan54 Norris was never going to make the ABs (and was already on the list for potential MABs).

@Dan54 Norris was never a realistic chance for the ABs. One for the future. I was thinking of Bailyn Sullivan.

I guess Ratima also misses out on this squad, which is a shame
