Brumbies v Crusaders

Geez. Brumbies were a shadow of their best without Lolesio and Valetini. Banks was horrid.
Great pressure Crusaders though. But it was the class of Jordan and Reece that made the difference in my view. Mounga was really off tonite on defence and Goodhue looked a bit rusty. Matera earned his spot in the forwards.

Mounga kicking 100% from the tee helped.

Definitely a step up in terms of intensity…Crusaders have put everyone on notice , lot to like about the Brumbies especially the way they came back ..
Really impressed with Blackadder and Matera especially..a MOM performance by the Argie..a good shift from young Newall and I thought Bryn Hall and Scott Barrett were very good .Gonna be a real challenge for the Blues travelling to Canberra next week ..

Man we are a frustrating team to watch. We seem to switch off just after we score. Hasn’t just been tonight but during the whole season.
Some very good attack and nice to see some of our receivers running on to the ball with some pace. Our pace in attack really troubled a decent defensive Brumbies team.
Defensively we looked good in patches but then pretty ordinary.
Scrum good. Breakdown work very good. Lineouts okayish.

Crusaders up to 2nd on points dif +131 to the Brumbies +110
Is it points diff or number of wins that is the first tie breaker?
Just looked yes it’s number of wins
We have Dura next week Brumbies have Blues.
Good chance we will go ahead of the Brumbies next week due to a Blues win or Brumbies not getting a bonus point and the Crusaders do. -

The Blues are looking awesome but whether they can bring that through a quarter and semifinal will be interesting.

Crusaders could have finished that game better, but still a great win.
Blackadder had a massive game. 25 tackles (0 missed), what an engine!
Also an excellent game from David Havili, not only his 12 tackles (0 missed), but also the two turnovers he won and a few great offloads, including that great try assist for Will Jordan's try.
I really like the young frontrowers that are coming through, and the old Taylor was back (I hope his rib? injury isn't too bad).
Mo'unga's defence wasn't too flash, but his game management is second to none. No one reads the game like he does; if there's an attacking opportunity, he'll find it. Great with the boot tonight.
Matera really classy again; 13 carries, 6 defenders beaten. Another one with a great engine.Razor should keep this midfield IMO. Apart from that win over the Chiefs in Hamilton where Fainga'anuku was the perfect battering ram, I haven't seen their midfield as good as tonight.
Brumbies, what to say. Too many mistakes tonight, but still a quality team.

Good but frustrating as someone else mentioned. How the fuck can they not just exit their 22 after scoring? Why the fucking around and letting the Brumbies back into the game? Whhhhhhyyyyyyyyy????????? FFS!
OK, Barrett very good, just what the Crusaders pack was missing. One of the first on the AB teamsheet. Reece and Jordan are the seagulls of the comp. If there are any scraps, they will pounce. Was surprised how Newell dominated Slipper at scrumtime. Thought the old bull would have given the youngster a bit of heat. -
@Old-Samurai-Jack It's not just the Crusaders who have been poor on securing restarts after scoring and then getting good exits. It seems o be a poor point for NZ teams generally.
Was well impressed by Newell: Good outing against quality opposition.
-
@antipodean And the ABs thinking about it.
-
Fletcher newell is some find. Should easily push the other options out of starting TH, especially Jager. MOTM for me was matera, great game.
-
AB tighthead prop is kind of a congested position - Ofa, Nepo, Tyrel and Angus in the queue - but it will be interesting to see how Newell finishes the Super season.
If he continues to do well, you'd think he'll make a squad, sooner or later, before the end of the year.
He's clearly someone who is going to go places.
