@Bones well, with your lid I expect people were trying to improve it
They would've had quite the challenge on their hands.

Can remember a league test in Palmerston North where the ball went missing for about 3 or 4 minutes ..
The Scarlet Manuka?

@Bones I also dont like that it is called 'foul play'
To me, foul indicates dirty play
High tackles were pretty dirty in my day 😁
Watch it at normal speed...
Certainly no malice.. Not deliberately head hunting..
Im guessing it's being implied that he was beaten, therefore shouldn't attempt the tackle.. As he wasn't going to be able to get low enough.
-
Gilbert is not really playing like a normal 10
-
Makalio having difficulty getting onside.
-
Of interest, in u10 grade and below tackle, the tackle height must now be below the sternum... I believe the intent is to carry this through the older grades in coming seasons too
Not sure if specifics, just what we were told at small Blacks course.

He looks like he's carrying an excess 10 kegs
-
@Mattasaurus pretty sure it is U18 and below

Not sure what you're arguing with here. Normal speed or not, it's penalty at best, Dickson was really low. "what's he supposed to do" is not a defence though

How does that work if the ball carrier drops at the last moment like everyone is taught to do?

What I'm poorly articulating.. Is that in that situation players when beaten and out of position to make a safe tackle shouldn't attempt the tackle in the 1st place..
-
@Crazy-Horse If you are properly bent at the waist and someone drops into your shoulder you won't be penalized (if the laws are applied correctly).
That isn't what happened.

but that is part of the issue IMO, they arent, well not consistently at least

There were some interesting discussions about how we are to police the rucks.. With everyone bent over etc and how can you legally clean out someone jacking the ball..
-
@taniwharugby won't hear an argument from me. Reffing quality is fucking shite right now with guys like Pickeral and O'Keefe running around.

Oh! It seemed you were saying the opposite. Agree wholeheartedly.
