@Damo Agree, but Berry is a former Reds player. He shouldn't be officiating this game. He's notoriously biased.

    Is he really?

I doubt any referees are actually biased. I just don't think it's possible to referee a game with a conscious bias.

A lot of ABs who toured SA in the old days would likely dispute that.

I also watched a match between Hamilton Boys and Hastings Boys where the ref was a straight up cheat. Was during Hikas time. One of my mates who was watching (an Of Plenty-er) actually made a complaint to Waikato Rugby.

Potentially a double yellow = red later in the game

    He's clearly unconscious

He might be rubbish but I won't let you call him a cheat.

If anything he probably be biased the other way.

Eh? I didn't call him a cheat! It was a joke.

Fair enough. Wrong target. My bad.

Nobody should call him a cheat though. I don't believe it's possible.

Yes like the penalties that didn’t go through the posts that got awarded.
    Some shockers back then .

So a Reds player blows a Highlanders player out with no arms right in front of the ref and he ignores it. Knob.

It's definitely possible to have an unconscious bias though. Refs really shouldn't be officiating their team when it's easily avoidable.

IIRC, one of the Saffa Refs in that era admitted as much a few years back.

Seen some crap refereeing but nothing I'd call biased for decades

Get him in Black. He’s hands down the most powerful centre we have in NZ.

If SANZAAR were a professional organisation, they simply wouldn't let Berry ref a Reds fixture. That alone would remove the perception.
