MP look good when they have ball in hand. Rolling maul a problem though but they're still in this.
Funaki becomes a penalty magnet in a maul.

MP are in year 1 , if this was their 2nd or 3rd year then i would be discussing their work ons , i am staggered they are this competitive especially given their disruptive start to the season ..
Check out the Crusaders in 1996 ..had some cricket scores posted against them..I agree Steven, they a boody easy team to like. They seem to be getting more and nore confidence, and getting better with it.

@bovidae the maul that the highlanders had on halfway mark which led up to the penalty should have been a turnover ,scrum MP..
The Landers player may or may not have not lost the ball but he had lost control of the ball after breaking from the maul and then he rejoined ..unfortunetly Fraser was on the other side of the maul ..
This is what pisses me off , The AR and TMO pick and choose when they come into the game ,remember a week ago when the TMO jumped in and changed a lineout call. -

@steven-harris Agree. I HATE that the attacking team can do what they want in a maul but the defending team always have to join from the back in the eyes of the ref.

Why is the TMO consistently inconsistent in their intervention when no-one asks for it?

@machpants said in Highlanders v Moana Pasifika:
Is that not a forward'pass'?
Yup, how the fuck did the ref miss that?
-
@antipodean where was he in the first half ..?

@anonymous said in Highlanders v Moana Pasifika:
If that was a ruck it wouldn't be out, so why is it out of a maul?
because the ball is off the ground?

No one is carrying the ball in a ruck

Exactly my point. I'm happy for the correct decision to be made to prevent unwarranted points, but the inconsistency is infuriating.

Can't believe Smith needed an explanation

Just trying it on, then you say 'how wise you are ref'. All games, played with the ref

It is out in both examples; unbound player passing forward to a bound player.

Half backs do that all the time in rucks?

Because refs let them do that (it's more prevalent in the NH) it's no reason to allow forward passes.
