I’m not convinced that Wilson or Kronfeld really contributed that much as Landers (Otago different story).

I havent read the article, but my second two would likely be from Oliver, Hoeft, Brown, and perhaps Sopoaga or Naholo (both instrumental in the Championship team)

Yeah I was leaning towards Oliver. But maybe "the hand of Dixon" could be above them pressing down like scoring a try.

I don't think Dixon could quite be in that group (although he did pop up as one I thought of), but for many years he was on the bench with Coltman preferred (e.g., 2015 final), so I can't put him in that top four.

Coltman actually has a really strong case, but it should probably be someone from the 1999 team. That would probably make it Brown I guess (although Randal was the captain.

    Ha ha, apologies!

I’ve been watching the game right now (available on FB!) and I wondered if that’s who you meant.

Heard an interview with TUJ and he said he's back training this week and is hoping to be available for next week's game against the Hurricanes.

    The Mount Rushmore of Highlanders

    The Mount Rushmore of Highlanders

    The Top Four Highlanders

I've got Goldie and the two Smiths. Still deciding on who gets the last spot.

The two Smiths pick themselves. I'd chuck in Tony Brown for impact on and off the field. The lost spot, I'd have as a toss up between Kronfeld and Wilson. Leaning towards Kronfeld, just to have a forward in there.

i got to go with Brown two, nearly 100 games across two stints and then come back and basically do whatever role they ask of him as a coach/assistant coach, attack coach, the man lives and breaths the Highlanders

so Smith. Smith and Brown easy

re someone like kronfeld, a legend true but only played 40 odd games for the highlanders, surely any of these have had a bigger impact for the club

    163 Aaron Smith
    152 Ben Smith
    115 Liam Coltman
    127 Anton Oliver
    108 Jimmy Cowan
    107 Chris King
    102 Elliot Dixon
    98 Carl Hoeft
    91 Tony Brown
    89 Lima Sopoaga
    81 Carl Hayman

He can wave to his bro on the sideline.

I'm almost leaning towards the Southland bogan Jimmy Cowan or Anton Oliver. Probably Oliver again as a forward. First player to 100 games as well. There's just something about Cowan being an absolute battler than I love.

'Potentially his year's done': Major injury blow for All Blacks flanker

'Potentially his year's done': Major injury blow for All Blacks flanker

The Highlanders finally have their first win of the season under their belts but it's come at a hefty cost.

The one positive on the injury front is that regular starters Thomas Umaga-Jensen and Billy Harmon are both nearing a return and could feature against the Hurricanes next Saturday.

8 weeks for both of them. 7 regular rounds left

So maybe they are back for a SF if the Highlanders qualify

Is Caird still with the Highlanders? With Dickson's suspension they are now missing their top 3 locks, so it's Evans and A.N. Other for a few weeks. I doubt they will start Holland so maybe Hicks moves into lock.

@Bovidae he is, think he was a full signing, not just WTG...I believe when Holland made his debut he hadnt fully recovered from Covid (which they had called Hallam-Eames in as cover for...)

@Bovidae will need at least four locks on deck in Caird, Hicks, Evans & Holland as we tour Melbourne, Fiji & Brisbane

@FakatavaFuture Brown and co will need to fit them into the squad size allowed for the tour. 27 seems to be the number.

Depending on how many games you have, the Crusaders have 4 games and I hear maybe 31 going on tour.

That makes sense. Taking a 3rd hooker and halfback, along with a 5th prop doesn't leave much room for extras. 27 seems a bit light too.
