I liked your post NTA but I'm unsure how you noticed Cane and missed Brodie - he's the big lunk who was doing a bunch of work.

Usually you see him running around with the pill and smashing blokes. It wasn't a very Brodie game from Brodie, IMHO. He might have been doing the dirty work, but then so must every other forward out there. The point is, they didn't really free up any of their fellow rugby players, trying instead to leave it to the backs (who it must be said, did good work, but aren't forwards).

Yep. And that's the big fucking mystery for me - we started like a shot Friday night. We started like a shit the Friday night before.
-
Yea not all Cantabs are anti Chiefs. Look for example at how the most one eyed Cantab of recent years Steve Hansen has just chosen the Chiefs backline for the ABs...indicating he's a big fan of that positive attacking brand of rugby the Chiefs produce.

And what better wingers than Savea and Naholo to put the finishing touches to some of that mooloo magic conjured up by Cruden and Ngatai...

Of course Dave Rennie needs to be credited with turning the Chiefs into one of the greatest teams in world rugby...benefiting the ABs in the process and a great pity we are going to lose one of NZ's most awesome coaches next year by the sounds of it.

The Tahs were over physical in the rucks and Mr Peyper should have penalized them two or three times when they dived like men possessed on Chiefs players lying on the ground. That was intimidation and it worked. But Peyper is a South African and it is how rugby is played in Boer land.

Wheres all this Cantab and Cane hoohah come from?

So KiwiMurph, a diehard Orc and Blues supporter said Cane was quiet. I agreed with his post and then all of a sudden all Cantabs hate Cane. Classic fern.

Cane's an exceptional player. Still has things to work on - eg running game. It's going to be great to see how things go with him and Savea over possibly the next 10 years! -

Very first ruck Cane had a forearm rubbed over his face. Lots of sly stuff aimed in the rucks and was obviously a tactic used by the Tahs to unsettle the Chiefs or try and distract them.

Tamanivalu especially spent a while chasing people for revenge and looking like he was ruck chasing to get an opportunity rather than sticking to pattern.
-

Yes, that was deliberate, of course. Palu should have been yellow carded far earlier.
-

Unsurprisingly I don't have an issue with the niggle as long as it's not well off the ball or dirty (squirrel gripping, fish hooking etc.). It's about asserting yourself. It was an obvious ploy that worked. It may also have been unnecessary given how we won the collisions and made good yardage around the ruck.

It's not tiddlywinks. All teams do it at some point and predominately because it works. The secret is to be patient in metering out your revenge. If the opportunity doesn't come, concentrate on getting the points which frustrates teams into more niggle.
-

winning the game is the ultimate revenge

Agree, but try telling that to the Janguares after the weekend! -

Yep, I'm sure you wouldn't have an issue with the niggle if it was Ben T leading the charge for the Chiefs ;)

Incidentally, I didn't even realise you were a Tahs fan until the lead up to this game. WTF!

But, the Tahs tactics worked on the night so who are we to argue, if you can get away with it, and right in front of the nose of the officials then you may as well keep doing it. Home advantage working for you.
-
