New social grade for Harbour clubs:

The new grade is here and needs a name! Starting May 18 and playing on Wednesday nights, the grade runs for six weeks and offers an alternative from traditional versions of rugby. Designed to be fun and social, the games consist of:

    • 12-a-side

    • 25 minute halves

    • Rolling substitutions

    • Uncontested scrums

Plus, all games will be played at one location each week, with some cool prizes on offer! So start getting your mates together (including one who is keen to take up a whistle if needed), brainstorm some ideas for the competition name and be a part of Harbour Rugby’s exciting new offering.

    Registrations open soon!

    North Harbour Rugby Union

    North Harbour Rugby Union

The North Harbour Rugby Union was formed in 1985 and during this time has developed a reputation for playing colourful and entertaining rugby through all grades

The Waikato Division One (Next down from Premier) comp is suppose to start this weekend, subject to a meeting tonight. The rest of the comps start later.

Talk up in Counties that Waiuku and Onewhero will combine for a team to stay in Premier due to a lack of numbers.

    Delayed 1 week.

Earlier this week all Division 1 clubs agreed to delay the start of their club rugby season by one week due to COVID related issues.
Division 1 first week of competition will now commence on Saturday 9th April, with this weekend's matches to be rescheduled to later in the year. Week one matches that were scheduled for this weekend will now be played on Saturday 18th June.
Round 2 has now been rescheduled to commence on Saturday 25th June in a Top 5/Bottom 5 format, with the Top 5 teams competing for the Mooloo Shield. Division 1 Final will now be played on Saturday 30th July.
Teams that have not been affected by COVID are free to play another round of pre-season matches this weekend in preparation of their season kickoff next weekend.

he was with OBM up here, played a couple of games in the Northland dev side and then went walk-about.

Certainly a talented player, so hopefully gets his head space right.

There has been an article under the headline HARDHAM CUP TO BECOME 10 TEAMS THIS YEAR contributed to the clubrugby.co.nz website by a person purporting to be Chris Rattue-Kneepkins. Little hard to work out if it is the Rattspew or not but readers have been warned.

@tim Where are Marist University North Harbour RFC, or whatever their name might now be, as I can't see them in the results above?

@higgins Maybe they've been replaced in Premier 1 by Helensville? Can't see them in Prem 2 either though. Weird.

No prem side for Marist this year in North Harbour most their top players have gone to silverdale, hence the big win over bays.

Northcote are playing silverdale next week. The cote lads are already fizzing

What little I saw of him in club looked very promising. Bit more Caleb Clarke than Salesi Rayasi.

With the comp start delay, my club Te Rapa went to Taupiri for a game of three halves with them and Pirongia. All teams were pretty even. Doesn't look like Taupiri have brought in any imports this year. Saw ex Counties player Adam Cathcart, who I know was retired due to hip issues playing for Taupiri.

Have they in the recent past? Even though Huntly still appears to have a club I am surprised some of their better players don't migrate to Taupiri. Huntly is a RL town.

@bovidae There is always rumours going around that clubs pay players. They are always financially healthy through good sponsors and farmers donating calves. I am pretty sure the last time they made prems they were giving match payments. A player from that season approached Te Rapa through the Facebook page and they were talking about match payments.

Anyone in the North Waikato that wants to play a good level of rugby plays at Taupiri. Huntly has a good core of locals including a couple of ex Te Rapa people who went back to try and improve them. They get a few guys from South Auckland too. Ngaruawahia and Te Akau were combined for a while and now are gone.

@mikedogz Taupiri have probably run out of Litts.

The Gatland-coached 1992 winning team had some decent players like S Gordon and Hopa, and some other ex-HOB players.
