Highlanders 2022

@kiwimurph browny came out earlier in the season and pretty much said he wasn't ready, kind of implied he was a project, maybe not even this year, which is a hell of a blow for someone with a full contract, thats whats WTG is for
while fellow winger Vereniki Tikoisolomone is seen as “project” player who will come into calculations as the season progresses.

And what happened to Liam Coombes-Fabling? Another project winger been tossed early? Highlanders taking the piss tbh. Do they have another 5 WTG contracts for wingers looking for the next Waisake?
MCL
Did it in his last game, taped it up at half time but too much damage done. Don't think it's season ending
-
@kiwiwomble yeah until he started over Dawai, very weird. Idk I'm just being cynical.
-
Tikoisolomone was Tomkinson's injury replacement so maybe Brown and co reassessed his readiness once he was training with them. Then again, Dawai is also very raw but he was part of the original squad. LCF's selection in Rd 3 was because of his training according to Brown.
Is Alaimalo training? Maybe Solomona is his replacement?
-
@kiwiwomble I don't think it's got anything to do with Dunedin & Highlanders environment. It's a mental health thing as he's made very clear himself. Just doing it really tough the last 2-3 years.
-
@stargazer i know its a mental health thing, i was saying that Dunedin and the Highlander might not be helping with his metal health issues, seeing he managed to play for southland in the NPC, you cant help but think he was making progress then and there and not as well now
-
@kiwiwomble NPC, less pressure than SR?
-
@stargazer quite possibly, and thats all i was meaning, if super rugby (and the highlanders/dunedin as his employer) isn't doing him any favours then for his own good you cant help but wondering if he should step away properly and really look after himself

what's the consensus on cam millar?obviously a reliable goal kicker, trains regularly with the senior team so could he debut soon or would that be throwing him in the deep end?
We’ve also got that young guy down from Auckland they’ve earmarked as a long term option

If McClutchie can continue to improve his kicking, a Fakatava-McC combo reunited at the Highlanders sounds pretty good for next year, even without my black&white eye patch on.
I have no idea why he isn’t there this year. Some one at the Landers needs firing, because if they are trying to focus on ‘local’ talent, its a recipe for being the 5th best franchise in NZ.

Not sure if serious....
I'm not, but I can't fathom why didn't bring another 10 into the squad.
I can understand re-signing Banks, but as the 3rd 10, not the 2nd 10 and only other option to Hunt.
I know they have the young kid, but he's at least a year away, maybe two, from Super rugby.
Clearly, they don't trust Koroi, so simply put, I don't get it.
Right now they could be bringing McClutchie and Fakatava off the bench and developing them both.

Yep agree. I didn’t see the value in Banks instead of a McClutchie type player.
