Huge sidepods or no sidepods? Mercedes’ and Ferrari’s theories

Huge sidepods or no sidepods? Mercedes’ and Ferrari’s theories

Mercedes and Ferrari have taken remarkably different routes with their 2022 Formula 1 designs, particularly in their approach to sidepods. Has one of them made a massive misstep?

I thought what a stupid question until I realised that I misread the headline as 'Huge sideboobs or no sideboobs'

@duluth Third and fourth places are better than 2 x DNFs, although I do agree with your observations of the Mercedes cars as they currently are. No doubt the engineers are working furiously to fix the problems so we should see some improvement in the future. Maybe next week might be a bit early but there will be a solution sooner rather than later if history is anything to go by.

Be good to see Ferrari do well again.

Mercedes will of course fight back stronger which I am completely torn on.

Having watched 3 seasons of F1 Drive to Survive last week, I have really warmed to Hamilton. He's really well spoken, eloquent, thoughtful and comes across so well. I've properly misjudged him. The flip side applies to George Russell. He's a complete fluffybunny and I hope fails badly.

Gutted for Red Bull & stoked for Haas. Guenther Steiner musthave been brilliant last night!

Liam Lawson had a fine weekend, getting two podiums including a second in a crazy feature race in F2. The action is so exciting in the lower formula

HIGHLIGHTS: Relive the thrilling 2022 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix | Formula 1®

HIGHLIGHTS: Relive the thrilling 2022 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix | Formula 1®

The second race of the season had a tough act to follow after a brilliant battle in Bahrain last weekend, but Saudi Arabia move than lived up to those very high expectations.

Fun battle between Leclerc and Verstappen again.

The 2022 cars being able to follow closer has helped a lot. Maybe they need to dial back DRS now?

I was thinking about this too. But decided na .. you still need to catch up to get within a second.

Some brilliant racing in the first two events so far this year.

Interesting how much stronger Russell was over Hamilton on the Merc. Seems he's really struggling to get to grips with the car.
