Very pleasing.
Probably fair
Makes things easy but to be fair Boult would hardly be overbowled judging by the utter shithouseness of the South Africans batting effort in the first test.

Cricket's a funny game, I 'm sure the South Africans will be much better the second time round

Yeah man for man we’re not actually THAT much better than them all things considered. I have no doubt things will be closer. They have a couple of class bowlers but not one guy averaging over 40 with the willow is a telling stat…..a far cry from Kallis, Amla, De Villiers, Smith etc.

@nzzp I think they will be better as well and don't underestimate the winning of the toss as well, that could also influence the second test
That was the first toss Latham had won as NZ captain, so he's probably used up his luck for the season.

Boult isn't going to play in the 2nd test, but is still going to be staying at home... ffs ! he could've at least gone along to the ground & supported his team mates like Williamson is doing.

Unless they see value in him being there as a net bowler, why? It could be disruptive to their normal patterns of prep.
Williamson is the captain.

Everyone's family situations are different mate, who knows why he's putting that ahead of his cricket right now (which is just his job TBH). A new baby is no joke, sometimes it goes smooth, other times you need to really be there to support your wife through it.

Fully this. I don't get why people are getting upset by it. It's good he's getting a decent and extended break from playing. Will help his longevity in the game. Hopefully he does a Jimmy Anderson!

Why? He spends so much time away from home in his job. Even a 'home' Plunket Shield game at Whangarei etc is a week away from home for someone from Tauranga. Why would he want to go and spend another weak away just for appearances sake? So some over-sensitive fan can see 'that he cares enough'?
Kane has one infant, and presumably 'drags' his wife and child around with him. Boult has 2 other kids presumably embedded in a routines of pre-schools etc, and a wife who's just given birth.

Fair points, no one knows what is exactly going on... but the other blokes in the team have young families too, yet they all went over for the start of that England tour, which was a vital buildup for the WCTC, then a similar thing happens again, just isn't a good look, find a lot of players these days are too bloody soft.

It isn't a good look to you only.
Nothing soft about prioritising your family. That is for sure.
I assume you are a teenager with your weak thought process on this?

As mentioned a lot of players are too soft... if they're worried about all the travel time they always have the option of doing a job that doesn't involve so much travel.

If ever there was an opportunity to extend family time, this is it. We are playing very well and just gave the saffas a pumping

FFS! Zero to do with being 'soft'

If anyone is a teenager it's you, in fact you sound more like a 9 year old - of course it's all about looking after their families, that's an absolute given... just get sick & tired of all the pc bullshit that goes on, it gets worse every year.

Didn't say they had to, just an option.
