Whittaker will be super focussed for this one and surely won’t be as loose as he was last time. Looked like he had got a bit worked up about it all and wasn’t as precise as as needed to be. Was it emotion? Or the hype? Whatever it was, expect more structure and patience this time.

I still think Izzy will get the win in the end but think could be quite a different fight on Sunday then we saw two years ago.

Also blood diamond is on the undercard. I don’t know much about his opponent but seen plenty of bloody diamond and the $2.80 on offer is very generous.

I hope it’s televised. He’s the first fight of the early prelims so we might miss out

His king in the ring fights were always entertaining

Yeah they sure were eh. Not sure his approx fight time but TAB has 1pm and 365 has 12pm (which I think is more correct). Prelims on prime and ESPN from 2pm so yeah I think will miss it. Will it be on PPV coverage? Easy enough to get a stream going.

    @jk

PPV is just the last 5 fights. I think the only official way to see it in NZ would be via the Fight Pass app? There's probably a stream of that somewhere

If there's a few quick finishes in the regular coverage they'll pick an early prelim to fill the gap

Ulberg is the other CKB fighter on the card. Will be interesting to see how he responds to a disappointing debut

There was an interview with Bareman a month ago where he discussed that fight. Under ideal circumstances he said Carlos would've had a couple more fights before joining the UFC. But the opportunity came up and there were no fights happening in NZ/Aus so they took a risk

Ulberg in an interview mentioned running out of gas. He talked about the huge difference in a fight situation going from 3min kickboxing round to 5min MMA rounds.

Hopefully the fight goes into the 2nd/3rd round so we can see if there's been improvements

I'm watching King in the Ring and Kai Kara-France is pretty impressive as a commentator.

Did you watch it? Sounds like a bit of a disaster, taken down early and couldn’t get anything going?

[edit - found a video of it.. doubt this will stay up for long]

Comfortable decision for Ulberg. The low hands were making me nervous though.. maybe he was trying to draw more out of Cherant?

Good to hear the commentators shit on the judge that thought Roxanne won. Completely incompetent.

Tai Tuivasa! I thought the step up in quality would be too much. Took some huge shots but finished Lewis with a brutal elbow.

Impressively tough and chugged some beer afterwards.

    The Gorilla was excellent too.

Izzy looked great in round one. The fight settled into a pattern after after that.

Whittaker getting takedowns but not able to keep him down or inflict damage. Adesanya more accurate on the feet but the volume of both fighters was low

Cannonier should provide a fun fight but there's a gap in class from Whittaker down to all the rest

Izzy fought a very safe fight. No way Whittaker was a chance unless he could close the gap or as you say do more with the takedowns. He improved after the first round but it was never in doubt overall.

Whats left for Adesanya at middleweight?

    Robert Whittaker x 2
    Marvin Vettori x 2
    Jared Cannonier
    Derek Brunson
    Paulo Costa
    Sean Strickland
    Jack Hermansson
    Darren Till
    Uriah Hall
    Kelvin Gastelum
    Brad Tavares

The UFC probably doesn't want Whittaker to fight any of the people that haven't had a shot yet. Rob's nexts two fight should probably be Vettori and Costa

Cannonier is next for Adesanya. Then what? Maybe Strickland if he has a solid win? However Strickland will probably struggle against everyone ranked ahead of him. So it's a big call who they put him against next

It looks like Izzy is slowly gaining muscle mass for a real crack at LHW. Maybe 3 more fights in this division?

    I don't think we'll see a 3rd Whittaker fight

Cannonier looks a really awkward opponent in terms of style for Izzy. Potentially a formidable foe.
