Klitschko, Fury, Parker, Takam & Joshua

Rumors circulating that it may suit Joshua to fight Joe sooner rather than later .

With potential fights against fury , haye and wilder on the horizon with nothing set in stone , they may consider the mandatory first to get it out of the way . -

He'd have harder sparring sessions.

He's still played less sports than SBW
-

NRL - NFL - Rugby

yes
-

Solomon is an ex league player , but does have some boxing pedigree , an amateur background as a kid ,

and his dad held the Australian heavyweight title,

He is quite technically correct , but Joe should be way too good for him with his power and hand speed

Interesting in Australia , its being billed as Solomons chance at a world title , win this and he gets the mandatory spot against Joshua ,

which is what Joe is up against now, he doesnt need a banana skin
-

I would. Different physical demands, different tactics and patterns to learn. You effectively have to re-train your body and mind to play Sevens. It is just the basic catch, pass, run skills that are the same (you could then argue that League is the same as well).

So for the sake of this small argument and a sportsperson training and playing different sports with different requirements then SBW wins (just).

I don't quite know why SBW gets so much derision about playing different sports though. He is basically playing variations of one sport and adding in taking something his does in his training to a competitive environment as well.

Now compare that to Jeff Wilson who was a prodigious talent in rugby and cricket, with national representation and by all accounts could have probably played for the Tall lacks as well if he had the time to dedicate to a third sport. No one gives him shit about that.
-

You'd have to say Goldie was a better all round "talent" ( not necessarily "athlete" ) than SBW or Hayne based on what he did. A lot of guys are very good at our winter and summer codes ( Kieran Read and Leon MacDonald to mention a couple, Rod Latham played rugby for Canterbury too ) but it's easy to forget that Wilson did all this to the highest level AND was a brilliant basketballer too which he never found time to play......

I always wonder where he would have stood in the echelon of Black Caps had he chosen to pursue that....there was a whole lot of decent ODI all rounders at the time so despite the All Blacks being better at what they did than the BCs ever were at that period I suspect he made the right choice.
-
Not popular to give him credit but Mundine is one of the better all round athletes I have seen .

Elite nrl player , played origin , boxing world title , Australian junior hurdles champion , and the Sydney Kings basketball were looking for his signature as a teenager , -

SBW gets "derision" because he changes so often.

Once Goldie made the All Blacks he concentrated fully on rugby.

isn't it obvious?

Last post I'll make on that... talking about SBW in this thread is disrespectful to real boxers like Parker
-

Talking about SBW as a top boxer is the equivalent of Joseph Parker concentrating on Rugby and getting as far as a premier team in Auckland.....but no further.......
-

I remember the comments coming out when he was young and from learned sources. IIRC he certainly had BB people keeping an eye on his sporting decisions.

Don't think anyone is saying he would have been an NBA recruit but domestic regular.
-
