Epic evening session
In to the business end now

@mikethesnow fuck it's so addictive eh! Makes for a perfect lazy day between Xmas and NY with this shit on all day, even the missus is sitting down to watch tight games.

Couldn't resist....

@majorrage absolutely smoking the old pro, awesome!
Faaarrrrk the increase in sweatiness just makes the combover worse and worse though.
I was listening to talkback and someone pointed out that darts players are the most shit elite “athletes” possible, someone else however pointed out that whilst this may be true in one sense it still takes immense willpower to stay playing well under the lights/heat/pressure etc.
I used to love watching the darts about ten years ago. Phil the Power, the Wizard and “Barney” were always great fun.

Fantastic QFs and SFs
Been a superb tournament

@mn5 immense pressure and all while doing high speed mathematical gymnastics. I know I couldn't do it, no matter how fit I was.
I think the maths part is more a case of memory…..even when I played semi regularly in the garage I got much better at this.
I find that very hard to believe in this instance.

Please refer to the earlier post where I mentioned it was ten years ago

Usain Bolt couldn’t play front row rugby, Owen Franks couldn’t run more than about a metre before falling over.
More than one type of athlete. Darts players deserve their spot and the haters can just, hate.

I love the darts but I don’t think they’d do particularly well at “Clash of the Codes” type TV shows.

I agree with you that darts players deserve respect, but I am a bit surprised that we've never had (maybe not yet?) a Tiger Woods effect in darts. Most players look like they're reasonably overweight and I do wonder if an elite darts player would get an advantage being also being physically fit, particularly at the businesses end of the tournament where they have to stay focused for so long in an incredibly intense environment.

Reckon it might have happened tonight.
30 yr old Smith looked visibly tired as the game went on. Reckon if he lost a few pounds, trophy would be his.

@majorrage maybe also just experience and the tough road he's had there? Not that Wright had it massively easier, but I can't say he looks markedly more fit than Smith...
Dunno. Wright is much older and I think he just has a natural sort of pot gut which is more age related than anything. Smith is way overweight for a 30 year old.
